And just a day or two ago I was remarking how amazing it was that Val Venis was still around after all these years...
And I thought WWE wouldn't be affected so much by the recession.

It sucks that Val never really got a shot at being in the main event, he was really talented but the "pornstar" gimmick pretty much doomed him from the start. I'm guessing Rob Feinstein is licking his chops at the potential shoot interviews he can get out of WWE's bloodbath.

It's awful to see how the economic downturn has affected such a big company like the WWE so badly. Apparently 85 employees were released yesterday. Puts things into perspective really.

Right. Ya know, cause he just did it left and right. Droz himself takes partial blame for it because the baggy shirt he was wearing at the time. And I'm sure it's something D-Lo lives with every day of his life. Really don't think that's cool to use as fodder to rub in his face. okay maybe it was a bit tasteless but regrdless of who is to blame its something he did baggy shirt or no baggy shirt Can you be anymore immature?

Even Droz admits that it was his fault as well and bears no ill will to D Lo. If its anyone's fault it was that idiotic fan who threw that can of drink in the ring in the first place.

Damn, this sucks. I feel for everyone released, even Bam Neely.
It REALLY sucks for Kreul and Spears because I thought they were great future talents, Spears especially.

Val Venis's entrance was one the last remaining ones I genuinely marked for every time, so this is as sad as when Stevie Richards was released. That just leaves Goldust as the last of Vince Russo's creations from his WWF days still going. Goldust debuted before Russo joined the creative team. So in the end nobody of any importance to 99.99% of the WWE's fanbase was lost. No, but at the same time that the rosters are staring down the barrel of an aging main event scene and several impending retirements. They have a midcard that can step up, but who will step up to replace the midcard? Especially if they keep giving up on new people so soon after they arrive You could argue this after any number of group cuts they've made. They still have a lot of guys from FCW, lots of iny guys breaking through, and if they don't make space on the card, where do Christian and Low Ki fit in?

I just checked the list and two major disappointments for me were Mike Kruel (even though I predicted it), and one of my favourites from developmental, Gavin Spears.
Kruel was a really big star in OVW for awhile. He was pretty much the top heel for most of 2007 as Michael W. Kruel, captain of Team America, featuring great Americans like Vladamir Kozlov, The Belguim Brawler, Los Locos and the Insurgency.
And Spears is most known on the boards for being Scotty Goldman's victim when he kidnapped Ronnie the Rabbit. I really hope Kruel and Spears get picked up somewhere. Kruel will probably get back to OVW and Spears, well, he lost a match in OVW where he can never return there, lol, so I wonder how that would work out. But these two were extremely great talent, and it sucks that they had to be let go.
TNA and ROH should look at these two, because these guys have a ton of potential.

They have a midcard that can step up, but who will step up to replace the midcard? Especially if they keep giving up on new people so soon after they arrive You're right guys like D-Lo Brown, Val Venis and Bam Neely should have been given more time to develop into the future superstars of tomorrow. Theres absolutly nobody who got canned last night who isnt replacable by any other wrestler. Smart cost cutting on the part of the WWE, you need to cut the fat. These guys for the most part played no role in the company, freeing up more money that the WWE can put into (pretty cheap) developmental talent and hopefully make the next superstar out of. I know the money by cutting these guys is probably a drop int he bucket, but its a step in the right direction.

Im thinking that Hardcore Hollys gonna get canned I don't think they're gonna fire someone in rehab, just because it could cause a backlash where someone says, look they really don't care about there wrestlers staying sober
