Yeah, it must be nice riding the accomplishments of others into the Hall of Fame, because that's what he's doing. If I somehow joined Aerosmith tomorrow, would that make me a rock legend? Of course not, so why is Trujillo considered a Hall of Fame member of Metallica? Well what do you want him to do? I doubt pretty much anyone would turn down a Rock and Roll hall of fame induction. I don't expect him to turn it down, I expect the Hall not to include him. It's flat-out wrong. He's getting into the HoF with a band whose legacy he did NOTHING to contribute to.

Well I think it makes sense if he is a current member of the band to go in. Now I get other bands it didn't happen that way. But it would hurt the band of if he didn't because he would no long feel like a member if everyone he touring with is on that stage with there ex members and he sitting in the crowd somewhere.
The guy may not have the albums list as everyone else but he is the player where going to see from now on it looks like.

Musicianship wise, Rob Trujillo >>> Jason Newsted. Trujillo's an amazing bass player and its cool he's going to be in the Hall of Fame as its pretty unlikely that bands like Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Grooves, his previous bands, would ever have a chance of getting in. Yeah, it must be nice riding the accomplishments of others into the Hall of Fame, because that's what he's doing. If I somehow joined Aerosmith tomorrow, would that make me a rock legend? Of course not, so why is Trujillo considered a Hall of Fame member of Metallica? Secondly, I was pointed out as being wrong about Newsted's number of albums, however I never said "studio albums". I just said "albums", and it's true. Newsted is also featured on "Garage, Inc.", "S&M". and several other live albums. He's on the majority of their released material. Of course, if you're gonna count every damn little thing Metallica released, Newsted will be on most of them, because of all their bassplayers, he's the one who's been in the band the longest. Maybe it's just me, when I talk about a band's albums, I generally mean studio albums, with new material.

He made two albums with them, Trujillo belongs in the Hall. So does Mustaine because he helped form Metallica's trademark sound early on.
I mean, the albums Newstead played on weren't exactly great (except for "....and Justice for All"), so saying that Trujillo only played on two poorly received albums (I know a lot of people who dug the last one more than any of their 90s crap BTW), therefore he doesn't belong in the Hall, is silly.
Then again, do like the Sex Pistols and when you get inducted tell the RnR HOF to f*** off. I mean, Madonna's in there for God's sake!

It's not like Trujillo's been in there for a few weeks or something, he's done album work and extensive touring. If the other members of Metallica consider him as one of them, then he should go in no question. As for Mustaine, I'm undecided there. He did contribute songwriting-wise to some of the greatest early tracks the band recorded, but not much else other than that. He wasn't featured on the albums themselves, and there's only scant footage of him playing any gigs with them. So i don't know there. He's not really considered a member of Metallica, you think Dave Mustaine and you think Megadeth. Probably shouldn't go in. and just because i felt like it, here is cliff at his best Immense. If Mustaine doesn't get in with Metallica, he's still going to get in, either with Megadeth or by himself. If he doesn't get in with Metallica, then when he is inducted, they will acknowledge the influence he had on (early) Metallica. I highly doubt that any of that will go unnoticed unless Dave wants it to.

Good gesture from Dave.
But 3 months from now don't be suprised if Dave gives an interview where he starts complaining or berating again.
The situation is stupid on all accounts anyway.
As for the bass player debate, they should all be inducted. Dave probably shouldn't if it requires you to play on a record etc.

Dave probably shouldn't if it requires you to play on a record etc. To the best of my knowledge, it does. And since he was gone before they recorded their first album, he is technically not included.

It's a swerve. Dave will attack Hetfield from behind during the induction.

As for the bass player debate, they should all be inducted. Even Ron McGovney? Especially Ron McGovney! If you're just including those who contributed to the recordings like Hetfield suggested in a RS interview that I mentioned earlier in the thread then does that mean Bob Rock will be inducted since he played bass on St. Anger (and I believe co-wrote the songs with James, Lars and Kirk)? I personally believe anyone who's been in the band regardless of if they recorded an album. Just because it's like you're glossing over history and the purpose of HOF museums is to preserve history (and to make money off of tourists). Just place a year entered the band and year left (if applicable) in the band's exhibit to avoid confusion.
