Anyone here play?
I went to the driving range for the first time yesterday... and it was a cool experience.
I never knew that something I found so boring while watching could be so fun when played.
I need to go back this weekend to the driving range, and also do some putting again. I started to look into getting a set of clubs, and have been reading that something second hand would be best.
Any experienced golfers out there?

I golf, but not really well and very casually. I usually hit the course 4-5 times a season, maybe more this season since a couple of my friends have gotten into golf.

I took Golf back at my community college...
By the end of the semester, I was sick of it.

I played in High School. 3 varsity letters and 3 MVP trophies to my credit. My biggest problem is the mental side of the game, I could never close the deal in anything important. I still play alot though and plan to get back on the local amatuer tourny scene this summer after working on my game

Golf is no fun to watch but if you feel like going out to play it and you know the basics already it is fun as hell.

My awesomeness at mini-golf is what my brother invite me to the "big boy" course. I had been interested in it before, but since I didn't have the time to learn, I put it off.

Lockhart, if you really want some good deals, check out places like a Golf Galaxy or an online retailer. They will often have closeouts on old models and alot of used goods on newer models that are some great clubs. If you are looking into a certain type of club, I'd guide you toward a fitter or a reputable store owner who can help you find your gear. I hope enjoy come down with the golfing disease and maybe I'll see you out and around on my golfing travels

Love to watch, can't play... upsets me when people claim that it isn't a sport. Its not a sport. I'm sorry but you can't believe the anger I have when golf gets a top spot on a highlight countdown over something more interesting, athletic or amazing like a hockey, football, baseball, basketball, boxing, cricket, MMA, pro wrestling, soccer...etc

I'm sorry but you can't believe the anger I have when golf gets a top spot on a highlight countdown over something more interesting, athletic or amazing like a hockey, football, baseball, basketball, boxing, cricket, MMA, pro wrestling, soccer...etc I strongly disagree with you sir. The natural ability it takes to make sure that all the points in the golf swing function as planned is nothing short of a sporting miracle. To see Tiger Woods swing in perfect balance while moving a clubhead at over 118 mph is something that has to be classified as a sport. The mental challenge is there. You try to hold a lead coming down the back nine at Augusta and then we can talk about how amazing it is. It may not lend itself to the fast paced highlight driven world of other sports that you mention, but it has a long and storied history that includes some of the greatest competitors throughout the sports world.

I played a few times, and bought a set from Amazon, started having problems with my back and am probably thinking of giving it up, especially considering the fact that all of the gold courses around here are clsoing down, have been trying to sell my clubs for a few months now.
