As usual before you ask, read the rules, FAQ, or try to pick it up on the streets.
And at least I got to lock and unsticky the old one...

A link to the staff page and noting to PM a recently active mod with something someone doesn't wanna deal with publicly would be helpful, as well as linking to the last (if not the full list) of ask a mod threads. Just saying.

This got me to thinking, has there been any thought to creating an "Ask A Mod Archive" section?

I have them all linked, I'll post it eventually. As for an actual archive section don't count on it. Rules change, responses change, and sometimes a lot of what was in the old ones wouldn't apply now. Plus we don't want a "wrong" answer given holding up as anything official due to a weird post by someone who isn't staff. Not that there's issue with non staff fielding questions they know the answer to, but sometimes it can be a bit off know what I mean?

Why do threads still get closed after 30 pages? Didnt the ProBoards upgrade fix that problem where the board can crash due to that?

Actually, with not only the server upgrade, but our extension of posts-per-page, the 30 page limit is almost unneeded, save for one reason: Ever try to find a certain post in an 93-age thread? While the tech side is stable now, we decided to keep the limit more for aesthetic reasons than anything.

Ok, I understand the limit on embedded Youtube vids per post.
But I don't understand why we're limited on posting Youtube url links.

Ok, I understand the limit on embedded Youtube vids per post. But I don't understand why we're limited on posting Youtube url links. To dissuade anyone posting full shows of PPVs or the like. The rule does seem a bit harsh but with it being there and working as a catchall, we're able to fight off the full show posting type bits so the hound dogs can never accuse us of promoting piracy of any promotions material.

what would happen if a mod bans a poster for no reason/just to be a dick. Will they be banned altogether or will they just loose their priviliges as a mod?

We don't control the ads. That's a ProBoards issue. Nothing we can do about it. YOU can get FireFox and install AdBlock+ and NoScript to get rid of it tho.

I'll do a search on the board for a thread I'm overlooking and sometimes I'll get logged out, even tho I just logged in and set it to stay that way for a day. Am I doing something wrong?

I think you need to clean out your cookies or something. But I'm really just here because I look good in green. One of the mods that knows what the hell they are talking about can probably correct me.

It shouldn't log you out, but then again the search feature on the boards since the update has been fairly dire. So it wouldn't suprise me either.

BTW... if you are using AOL, that could explain why it would log you out.
AOL and IP issues go hand in hand.
