Ditto. But at least it wasn't Pearl Harbor or Flyboys, me and my friends damn near had strokes from the rage. What, 300 isn't worse than those? Xerxes himself must still be rolling around in his grave from that one. Because its a comic then its automatically excused

I mean, it doesn't matter that the comic itself is supposed to be based upon something that actually happened in real life, that there's a wide historical record about!

I've never cared if a movie is historically accurate or not. Star Wars not being based on fact doesn't make me dislike it. Transformers and Iron Man having no historical basis doesn't make me think they suck. So why should I dislike The Patriot, Gladiator, or Braveheart for not being historically accurate?
They're movies, not educational documentaries, and I treat them as such.

I think there is a fine line between inaccurate, and just plain offensive.
For offensive, take a look at that god awful Babe Ruth movie starring John Goodman.

Iron Man, Transformers, etc are all based on works of ficiton, hence they COULDN'T have historical basis. The others are "Inspired By" or "Based On" true events, therefore you CAN get it historically acurate. Outside of that I agree with you. I don't really care of a movie is accurate or not, so long as it doesn't pretend to be.

Ever since we stopped ruling the world and let the Americans take over it's all gone downhill. Give us control back and all the worlds problems will be gone. Including the French

Too much of Europe has gone latent.

I don't really care of a movie is accurate or not, so long as it doesn't pretend to be. My point is, though, that whether it's a real event or not, the story of 300 is cool. I enjoyed the movie itself, regardless of any sort of historical inaccuracy within it, because it's fun to watch. The same holds true for The Patriot, Braveheart, etc. I enjoy them for what they are (fun movies) rather than bemoan what they aren't (accurate portrayals of real events). And, let's face it... in a lot of cases "historically accurate" would be boring. Great for a Discovery channel documentary, but not that fun as an action flick. And when I go to the movies, I'm not really going so I can be put to sleep like I am in class.

In defense of "300," I doubt Frank Miller cared about historical accuracy.

I'm sure Miller and Zach Snyder knew that the Persians didn't have giant orges and fat guys with swords for hands. They just didn't care.
