You know I had a dream once that I was watching the 2nd and 3rd Star Wars movies and all of the Clone Troopers and spaceships were replaced by British Redcoats and galleons.

There's a difference between "historical inaccuracy" and "science fiction." Braveheart, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven? All were historically inaccurate. 300 on the other hand? Uh................ That's my point. I'm sure Miller and Zach Snyder knew that the Persians didn't have giant orges and fat guys with swords for hands. They just didn't care. Could just be me, but I'd rather they have actually portrayed the Persians for what they were. Bad news was what they were. If they hadn't gotten tied up with the Byzantine Empire during the time period of Islamic Expansion, I wager that they would've retained their insanely badass native dynasty and smashed into the Levant with little to no trouble. Question is whether or not the Seljuqs still would've been around...if they had, maybe that might not have been the case for Persia anyway.  |

I think that's borderline an excuse for the people who made it to say "Yeah, we're tossing in whatever we feel like, cause a guy is telling his people about it!" as opposed to "Keep in mind, this guy is hardly a reliable source, and there's some philosophical meaning in it." I might be wrong, but still. You're right to feel that way, I just honestly think that they could have... I dunno... made the Persains seem like humans instead of some vast army that would be at home in D&D. For gods sake, why were there Ninja-esque characters? The Assassians didn't come around for around about another millenia. |
