My ex-girlfriend did the same thing to me exactly a year ago. Same exact day and all. I know how you feel man. It'll get better over time, but you're going to feel like shit for at least a few days.
I distracted myself by watching funny TV shows, playing video games, and some movies. Just whatever you do, don't watch anything that'll remind you of her. You'll be in an even worse place.

Tried the friends with the ex thing, now I just hate her more than ever. :/ Doesn't work IMHO. Found someone much better anyway.

If I travel this summer we'll hang out! I'm down with that sir. Although I think Tampa's a better spot than Kingston, Ontario.

My Ex and I just broke up a couple of weeks ago after a 2 year thing, so I know how you feel. I've been okay with it though thus far, things happen and even though I lost a really good friend (and someone who let me put my penis in her vagina) I've been able to move on.

This song seems appropriate here. Its a terrible song though, but the chorus applies. Am I the only one who hears that song and thinks he might just want him to dry his eyes on the back of the singer's shirt, if you catch my drift? I feel for you man. If it helps you feel any better, I know I felt like you did, but I'm much better off as friends with my ex than I was.

Ok,
1) I'm sorry to hear about what happened, it's always tough when affairs of the heart don't work out but time is a great healer.
2) I find that being friends with an ex is possible, I've done it and it seems to have worked out (but hey, that's just me).
3) STRIP CLUB!!

I'm sorry to hear that, the fact you haven't written her number down on every men's room stall you see shows you are the bigger peerson.

I split up with my ex about 4 months ago. It's only up till the recent weeks where I've really gotten over her.
As Loki said: DO NOT do the friends thing.
It will be a completely one sided relationship, your feelings of attachment and nostalgia will only grow deeper and more painful as you try and pretend to enjoy purely friendly conversation with a woman you shared so much of yourself with (literally and metaphorical). Look at it this way, her wanting to be friends is only to satisfy any guilt she may have about the breakup. She's having her cake and eating it.
Another way to see it is, would you want to be second best for the next douche she goes with?
Delete her IM, delete her number, delete her texts, get rid of her photos, avoid anything that reminds you of her too much and put it all aside as a past chapter in your life and move on.
Wallow in self pity dude, we've all done it. Go through the process, confide in your buddies, do things you couldn't do when you were in a relationship with her and come out all the better for it.
Don't look back in a few years time wondering why you wasted so much time trying to get a girl back who wanted nothing more than a mere friendship. Save yourself the heartache and put a full stop on your relationship altogether.

As Loki said: DO NOT do the friends thing. If she want's to be friends, tell her you have enough friends.
