It's out now?
I'll be interested in hearing your impressions. American Idiot had some good songs.

I actually think it's better than American Idiot.
Don't get me wrong, I loved AI...but 21st Century Breakdown still topped it. Excellent, excellent album.

What makes you like it better than American Idiot? Just better songs in general? I dunno, just in general I like the feel of it a lot more. It's more varied, but it all ties together pretty well. And I feel it's lyrically stronger than American Idiot was. Just overall, I feel it was a stronger album. I'm giving it another listen tonight though.

I would assume a lack of "Wake Me Up When September Ends"? I really didn't care for that song either. I also thought the second half of the album sounded way too much like the first. I dunno, just in general I like the feel of it a lot more. It's more varied, but it all ties together pretty well. And I feel it's lyrically stronger than American Idiot was. Just overall, I feel it was a stronger album. I'm giving it another listen tonight though. Hooray on the variance! I'll have to give it a listen if it's more tightly tuned. Listening to American Idiot I thought it was an ok album, but a lot of people already had it set in their heads that it was going to be Green Day's big comeback, and reviewed it accordingly. A lot of the album got through based on refuge in audacity. But it sounds like 21st Century Breakdown lives up to their promise.

I would assume a lack of "Wake Me Up When September Ends"? I'm actually quite fond of that song. It's a good song, but it NEVER should have been released as a single. That was way too depressing of a song to be hearing it 20 times a day on the radio. I'll probably check out the new album, even tho I'm in the minority that didn't really care for American Idiot. It wasn't bad, I just didn't think it was the epic everyone made it out to be

It's a good song, but it NEVER should have been released as a single. That was way too depressing of a song to be hearing it 20 times a day on the radio. American Idiot really suffered from over exposure. I liked Boulevard of Broken Dreams a lot, until the 50th listen. It didn't have the depth to reward repeated listens, to me. But it's still a good album.

But it's still a good album. That's a good point, half the friggin' album was released as a single it felt like. That's probably a big part of the reason I haven't popped that CD in in like 2 years

Hey! I thought Warning was one of their best albums (Though Nimrod will always be there best to me)

Ive liked Green day for quite a while and Ill give the album a listen.
That being said, I really hope they've toned down the "America sucks, but we like it's money" vibe I got from AI

That said, it's still got sociopolitical commentary, though perhaps less overt this time around.

So I finally finished it, and I thought it was even better than American Idiot. 21 Guns is definitely my fave.
