Big question for all you guys.
What do you think is the most important invention in the history of mankind?
The wheel? The plow? The printing press? The Internet? Hot Pockets?
What do you think?

If I changed my answer to Boobs would that be against the 'no religious postings' rule?
I'll show myself out.

Earplugs. Never underestimate the value of not having to listen to someone.

Written language. It has allowed mankind to pass very specific knowledge down through the ages. Without the ability to learn directly from the writings of those who came before us modern science would be non existent.

Kentucky Long Rifle. That gun made it able for regular people to own guns that then led to the uprisings of the 1700's. Without that gun there would be no American or French Revolutions. When the common people controlled weapons that were on the same level as what the governments had, then things changed.

So instead I'll just quote you, and go "QFT". ;D
