I actually REALLY liked Michael Bay's "Transformers". I had a lot of fun with it and thought it was an entertaining flick. Sure it had it's flaws, like Megatron being a...whatever he was, and too much focus on the human characters, but I think the reason for the focus on the human characters may be the same reason I was never all that into Transformers as a kid...I like cars, I like robots, but I have a little bit of a problem seeing myself as a car that turns into a robot, it's hard to associate with. I know some kiddies probably had NO problem with that, but for some reason I did. If it wasn't humanesque like a Terminator or organic like a dinosaur, for some reason I couldn't be it in my head.
I've since realized the error of my ways back then (no really...I am about to buy a CRAPLOAD of Transformers toys to see what I missed out on as a kid), but still...I don't see what the big deal about the movie was. Nothing from our childhood will ever be adapted properly...for a movie that was basically based on toys, it was about as good as you could get, and I can't wait for Revenge of the Fallen.
I mean, damn. The first flick actually made me give a damn about Bumblebee. Bumblebee is a loser...but Camaro Bumblebee, I actually cared about the guy, I was most upset when he was captured and seriously almost cried when he got his legs blown off =/ plus he's...a bitchin...Camaro.
Anyway, maybe I have bad taste, I have no shame in what I like...I just enjoy what I enjoy and not give a damn about what others have to say about it. Everyone has some entertainment skeletons in their closet.

I didn't like it, but I hated Transformers as a kid, but didn't a lot of people like this movie? I remember it getting good reviews and it always sold well on DVD and it make a lot of money in theaters.

Well, any site that thinks Morton Downey Jr. and Roddy Piper arguing at WM 5 is poopy doesn't always get things right. Plus, it's not like you said you liked Batman and Robin, then you would deserve a beating the likes of which you have never had.

I really like Transformers, and I think most others did too. It's a formula, every second film Michael Bay makes is good.
Bad Boys - good The Rock - bad (but entertainingly so at least) Armageddon - good Pearl Harbor - bad Bad Boys II - good The Island - bad Transformers - good
Which admittedly has me worried about Transformers II.

Ahh Bad Boys and especially Bad Boys II...my parents...you're not reading that wrong, and I, still quote terribly inappropriate things from II.

I thought it was pretty duff. Not because they changed stuff from the cartoon or whatever, but because it wasn`t very good.
Been a while since I`ve seen it so couldn`t elaborate on what I didn`t like. Some parts were decent mind you.

I'd watch it if Shia Lebeouf wasn't in it.
Yes I hate that motherf***er that much.

I've kinda come to terms with the fact that Transformers is pretty much Michael Bay's directing style in a nutshell, ie: "explosion, explosions, and more explosions. almost no plot, but lots of explosions", and it makes the movie a LOT easier to swallow.

It wasn't too bad, as I have it on DVD. The thing is, there were just a few times throughout the movie where I'd be wondering, "What the hell's going on?! Why are we at the Pentagon now? Now why are we on Air Force One?"

I didn't think it was terrible, but I always hate the "up-close-and-shaky-cam" in action sequences.

So?
Anybody who says you're wrong for liking something is a piece of shit to begin with.
Don't be self-conscious about what you like. If you get a craving for it, you don't have to hide about and call it a guilty pleasure or whatever.... f*** em.
I wasn't a huge fan of the Transformers movie, but I'm damn sure gonna see the second and whether I like it or not has no bearing on what anybody else has to say about it.

I don't get why people got so pissed off at the Transformers movie. Sure it wasn't great, but what the hell do expect of a movie about transforming robots kicking the s*** outta each other?
For a Transformers movie, I was satisfied.

Transformers is currently tied with Iron Man as being my favorite movie, and it was the first movie I ever liked enough to buy the DVD.
And by the way, which toys are you getting? Old G1 stuff, newer toys from the movie, or what?

Old G1 stuff, newer toys from the movie, or what? G1 remakes. And some from the movie. Today's hunt was a bust, though. Better luck tomorrow perhaps.

Ah. Y'know, despite being a huge Transformers fan, I still don't care for the old 80s toys, and never have. Beast Wars, though? I played with those dang things all the time as a kid, and today they make up at least half of my collection.
Still, good huntin', eh? And if you can't find them in stores, there's always online sites like Big Bad Toy Store.
