San Diego has Josh Wilson, a backup shortstop, pitching right now.

San Diego has Josh Wilson, a backup shortstop, pitching right now. Mark Reynolds certainly noticed.

Ellsbury with a ridiculous catch to rob Kinsler of a triple. Insane. He's now listed as day to day thanks to that catch. BOOOO!

Seriously, does everyone on the Cardinals' offense not named Albert have periods where they just STOP CARING?

Seriously, does everyone on the Cardinals' offense not named Albert have periods where they just STOP CARING? Well that's because after Pujols, there's really no one else they have on offense that excites me (Except Rasmus but even he's just starting)

The good news - even though the White Sox lost 5 of their last 6, they host the Tigers for 5 games starting with a doubleheader today. (Oakland and Cleveland are always tough on the Sox, but they can beat Detroit at will.)
The bad news - Jose Contreras is going to start one of today's games. The over/under on his IP is at 1 1/3.
(If Contreras pitches like crap today, please release him.)

And now Dennys Reyes gives up a sac fly in an attempt to clean up Brad Thompson's mess.
Have I mentioned just how much I resent Ron Mahay for his contribution to this?

Sweet, I really liked Dellucci while he was here. I would welcome him back.

Seattle and LAA get the off days, while Texas starts a series with the Jays today.
Seattle travels to Camden Yards and starts a series with the O's tomorrow. Hopefully we can repeat our success we had against them last time.

So...tonight is the first time the Pirates will face the Braves since the trade of Nate McLouth (didn't take long...).
I'm kind of curious to see how it goes. If the announcers will make a big deal about it. If the players who held a candlelight vigil will realize that McLouth is still alive (and sadly most likely doubling on them). If the Pirates will rage against the management machine and win/lose (However they rage...Not exactly sure).

Josh Hamilton is having surgery tomorrow and will miss 4 to 6 weeks.
Brandon McCarthy is going to the DL with a stress fracture in his right shoulder. It's similar to the injury that McCarthy had two years ago. GM Jon Daniels said McCarthy won't pick up a ball for several weeks.
I'm more concerned with the McCarthy news because he's been one of our better starters. Plus, Matt Harrison is still hurt, but should be back soon. Derek Holland is going to be staying in the rotation I assume.

After all the sucking the Cubs have been doing the last few weeks, they're only 3.5 games out of first place. Somehow.

Nothing wrong with that guy sending one out of the park. Except the guy can't hit, and he's another one of those juice guys, if you will.

College World Series is set. Texas vs Southern Miss, Arizona St vs UNC in bracket 1. Cal St. Fullerton vs Arkansas, Virginia vs LSU are bracket 2. Both brackets are double elmination tournaments with the winners to play a 3 game series to decide the national title.
