Rafael Perez just pitched one entire scoreless inning. Is it too early to assume he's back to form?

and with that victory, the Yankees take sole possession of 1st in the AL East for the first time since the end of the 2006 season.

Seattle poised to win! I'm a happy kid. And Ichiro got some hits, so that's good.

-As a Sox fan, I'm not understanding this deal at all. I think Kenny was a little perturbed Jake Peavy said no and just wanted to do something - ANYTHING! - to make it appear like he's trying to better the ball club. While Clayton Richards was rumored to be part of the Peavy deal, he's been pitching lights-out his last 3 starts, so he wasn't going anywhere. Poor Lance Broadway; Met fans, you're getting a good pitcher in this deal. -Same day Carlos Quentin goes on the 15-day DL, DeWayne Wise was called back up. -Jose Contreras went 6 innings, gave up 4 ER and got a ND in his last Triple-A start. -Oh and the Sox beat KC 11-2. I can handle three game series that go like this: Game 1: Club the other team to death, win big. Game 2: Situational hitting, win a close game. Game 3: Lose. The bats are starting to come around.

If you need bullpen help, Lance is your guy. The White Sox aren't just going to dump pitching prospects on a whim.

I still can't believe the Orioles got as much as they did for Bedard. There's even a rumor that if Bedard doesn't re-sign with the Mariners, he might find himself back in Baltimore.
Adam Jones, George Sherrill (team closer), Chris Tillman (one of the O's top pitching prospects), Kameron Mickolico and Tony Butler. O's got 2/5 of their rotation, one of the better young center fielders in the game, and a left closer for 1 guy. Amazing.
BTW, did you know? Sliced bread is the best thing since Matt Wieters.

Good 7-0 win for the Cubs today over the Dodgers. Dempster was lights out and the offense looked like they actually had fun. Guzman with a nice 8th inning, and Heilman getting out of a jam in the 9th to save the shutout.
Back to two games over .500, and hopefully done with the painful offensive woes. The pitching has been VERY good as of late, and if the offense is back, it's a good sign.

This does not look good for Martinez and the rest of the Indians

One of the WORST trades in Seattle history. Hell, the other guys don't bother me too bad(losing Sherrill was bad, but, it let Putz step up, its a push), but getting rid of Adam Jones was a STUPID move. Luckily, it was one of the last stupid moves that the GM at the time could make. So far, I'm really liking the new GM(signing Russel Branyon to a $1.4m contract? Brilliant!)

Another College ball update: Lynn University (Boca Raton, FL) have won the DII title and University of St. Thomas (St. Paul, MN) have won the DIII title.
As of this post Texas St., Wright St, Georgia St, Bethune Cookman, Alabama, George Mason, Dartmouth, Monmouth, Whicita St., Marist, Indiana, Southern, Sam Houston St., have all been elminated from the DI tournament. Two games are still going on right now San Diego St. leads defending champ Fresno St. 2-0 in the 4th and Utah and Georgia Southern are tied at 10 in the ninth. both games are elmination games.
EDIT: Utah has won 11-10 so GA Southern is out.

How bout them Bearcats? Still in the tourney! Not bad for an AE team. Course, they'll probably eventually lose (and bad)
