Decided to watch the Star Wars series (I've only ever seen episode IV fully) and was wondering which was the best order to watch them in.
In keeping the storyline (I-VI) or in order of production (IV,V,VI,I,II,III)?

It might not be the popular move, but storyline. That way the movies get better with each new one. And you can see the growth of Vader.

I've never tried watching in Episode order. I've always watched real world chronologically just to find new things to bitch about how the prequels contradict the original trilogy.

Phantom Menace aside, I enjoyed AOTC and ROTS enough to see them in the theatre twice. My main gripe is that Lucas went crazy with the CGI. There was a totally different feel from the original trilogy to the sequels. Plus, all the space battle were way to busy to feel like the main characters where ever in any danger.
Otherwise, I stand by the minor but true fan boy bitching about Hayden's ultra shitty acting, R2 flying, ect, ect.

Watch them in Production Order. Make sure you watch the ORIGINAL versions of IV, V, and VI. Yes where Han shoots first. Like he damn well should! I will usually watch them in order if I get the chance. Slightly off-topic but was the Family Guy Empire episode shown yet???

Watch them in Production Order. Make sure you watch the ORIGINAL versions of IV, V, and VI. The DVD boxset I'm getting has the remastered and original versions of the IV-VI trilogy I think, which is a nice touch.

Watch them in order, and in between II and III, watch the Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars series.

I'm actually doing that right now, and I'm watching it in storyline order.
Honestly, I like the prequel trilogy a lot. All of them have held up quite well for me.

I don't mind the Prequel Trilogy at all. Episode II isn't really up to par, IMO. but I like the other two.

I've always wanted to set aside a whole day and do this. Now that it's summer and most people are free, I think I'll get some buddies together and do it soon.

I can't stand Episode I or II for it's brutally painful suckyness. I'd recommend you watch "The Phantom Edit" and "Attack of the Phantom" which are professionally done re-edits of Episodes I and II. I was surprised how effective the film is when certain elements are eliminated or moved around. The edits are done in a way that suits the storytelling of the original trilogy. That's just my two cents.

Watch them in Production Order. Make sure you watch the ORIGINAL versions of IV, V, and VI. it does't make any difference (and please don't say "han shot first ) the newer effects and t extra scenes are worth it it wuld be worth getting the republic commando seies of books..you elise that the jedi (well the older generation WERE pricks )

I don't think I could sit through the prequel trilogy again. Even with RotS, I found myself skipping through about three quarters film the last time I watched it. With all the banal dialogue, poorly developed characters, terrible acting, nonsensical plot lines, and surprisingly boring action scenes, I just couldn't enjoy these movies on any level. And it's not like I didn't try.
So yeah, if it were me I would just watch the OT and leave it at that

Alot of the additions are really distracting and take away from the film more than anything else. Especially the Cantina scene for IV. The CGI elements are so out of place and distracting.
