Very happy for the Penguins - always liked them because I like penguins and liked the name. This also means that only the NBA Title currently isn't residing in the state of Pennsylvania. Wonder if the Pirates will step up this year?

;D ;D ;D ;D
My only complaint about last night is that not one cable network decided to capitalize on Game 7 fever by showing the 1995 action flick "Sudden Death." After all, the movie was filmed in and around Pittsburgh's Civic Arena and takes place during a fictitious Game 7 involving the Pens. It would've fit perfectly!
I stayed up to watch the championship presentation and some of the postgame coverage on Pittsburgh's local news channels. I laughed when a reporter asked for a fan's reaction and the guy said it was "f***ing amazing!" Gotta love adrenaline and live TV!
I woke up early this morning to get a copy of the Post-Gazette; I'm saving it along with the papers from the Steelers' AFC and Super Bowl victories. And on Monday, I'm picking up one of those championship hats.
So now that Pittsburgh has the Lombardi Trophy and Stanley Cup, maybe the Pirates will complete the trifecta by winning the World Se...um, nevermind.
EDIT: Yeah, I know the video is from last year, but I still think it's cool.

Ok, officially sick of the Pens now. Every damn last thing on the Hockey News frontpage is about them, the only remotely interesting one is about how Crosby accidentially on purpose forgot to shake hands with most of the Detroit team. Classy, Sid, stay classy. Of course, the comments are full of people tripping over themselves to apologize for him. No excuses. Ever. Win, lose, you shake hands at the end of the series. And that goes for everyone, always.
Anyway, enough negativity, rumors abounding of course, some I heard
-Ryan Smyth back to Edmonton - Edmonton looking to trade up to land Tavres - Jack Johnson and a 1st rounder to the Ducks for Pronger

I stayed up to watch and I was so glad I did. It was a great game and Fleury had some amazing saves. Its been a good year for the sports teams of Pittsburgh. Well, bar the Pirates.

Phil Kessel reportedly asked the Bruins for $5 million a year. The Bruins, in response, asked "How does Colorado sound to you?".
I'd hate to see Kessel go, but $5 million is borderline ridiculous.

Parade is set for Monday. I have to decide whether to blow off an 8 hour day at work to go stand in a hoard of people just for the chance to glimpse Evgeni Malkin or if I should just go to work and watch the highlights later on.

Of course nobody has anything bad to say about Crosby, because he's the face of the NHL. Just ask the networks! Or, the NHL marketing machine. Nevermind that he isnt even the best guy on his own damn team, in addition to the fact that Ovechkin is far better. Crosby is the man, and nothing he does is ever wrong

Colorado is about to lose Lappy, seriously, our organization used to be the second best team in the west, now we're such a joke, who would want to work for a bush league team like the Avs, IT'S CALLED A SALARY CAP YOU MORONS!!
Seriously how has Detroit grasped this concept and the Avs have not!! I hate being a fan sometimes.

15 years ago today the Rangers won the cup. As a ranger fan I'm sick of evrything about our franchise being somehow being related to that victory. Maybee if we leave it in the history books, we can actually pay attention to the present, get rid of scott gomez, get some scoring and maybe just maybe we can go passed the second round.

Am i wrong for being kinda rubbed the wrong way by Malkin's over-celebration of winning the Conn Smythe?I can't think of anyone else that's had any more than a pic taken with the trophy on ice,and he was skating around with it like it was the cup!!

Uh, Kessel had 36 goals this year, while missing 12 games. Not that rediculous to ask for 5 mil But we don't know if he can still score 36 goals after shoulder surgery, and he's still suspect on defense. I'd totally give him the same deal as Krejci, which I think is what he's really going for. Any other day I'd say he's worth 5 million, but I think it's nuts to ask for that when they can barely hold on to the other top guys on the team. I think they should hold onto Kessel like grim death, but I'd be shocked if they gave him it.

I kind of want to respond, but I know I don't want to be thought of as a blind homer or blind apologist who doesn't appreciate the sport.... I'm kind of sick of hearing that Sid "intentionally snubbed the Detroit Red Wings and refused to shake their hands" As Sid was in line, and yes, he was the last one in line, and I might as well not even continue because I'm just going to be called a bandwagon Pens Apologist. As far as Malkin, I have a feeling that he spent that time very confused. I'm not going to bother elaborating, because again, it's just going to look like me making excuses for Malkin not knowing enough about the history of the NHL. You can't change the minds of people who are looking for any and every reason to hold a grudge.

guess what theryre showing on msg right now? a marathon of the 94 finals. Every year is 94 for a ranger fan. Stop it already. However after looking at that team we really need to fire Sather and bring back Smith, that team was solid. There's only two things we got out of Sather, Jagr and Lunquist and now one of them is gone and we havent made it passed the second round or even win a division. And were gonna suck monkey testicles next year becasue we can't afford to sign anybody, and were probably gonna loose either Zherdev or Antropov. Way to go Glenn.

And the 'second' centennial year of the Canadiens, being founded in December 1909 (forget all the mess about this season.) If they can actually scrap up a Redeem Team and win I would be very surprised.

Not as bad as the money Sundin got. At least Kessel was valuable. PB - I think we're in for a bad year. I believe they're going to go the defense route and we'll probably see some very dull games. Komisarek is going bye-bye apparently (According to an article in the Gazette).
