Yes, I am aware that a lot of fans take the attitude that you must love everything the WWE (or any promotion) does or not watch, and I understand that people feel like they're persecuted for their complaints. However, somebody does need to explain the "gambler mentality" to me regarding an entertainment show.
The reason I think it makes sense to stop watching a show if you're not happy is because that's just what I do with other things. I dont think South Park's been funny for a while, so I haven't watched any of the episodes this season, nor do I plan to any time soon (let's face it- if you're not a Jonas Brother fan and you're still losing sleep over them, there's a problem). I don't find the idea of continuing to watch and angrily demanding that Matt and Trey satisfy me to be very appealing.
There's things I dislike about my favorte shows, WWE programs included. I don't like how they rush feuds without letting them build up and simmer (Cena/Batista). I don't like how new guys get pushed into the spotlight without being given a chance to develop themselves. I don't like Tommy Dreamer. But I'm not at the point where I'm waiting for something good to happen. If that happens, then I'll tell the WWE to piss off.

Nice explanation. This is the same reason why I hardly ever listen to the radio or watch the music channels to hear music anymore, because I'm generally not keen on the mainstream music scene. I explore other places (usually online) for my musical needs.

I remember posting something similar in the TNA section and Stryker agreed. What kind of masochistic fruitloop watches something they don't enjoy?
At the very least DVR it and fast forward til you find something you like.

Watch the episode of South Park from last week entitled "Fishsticks".
It's the funniest episode I've seen yet and I've seen just about every episode.
I'm starting to laugh now just thinking about the episode.

People love to complain, it's that simple. I don't love complaining. I go on the internet for low brow humor and nude pictures of Gwen Stefani. So far, I'm only 1 for 2. Guess which one?

Alot of people that bitch about the shows tend to watch in the hopes that something good will happen, I know I do. Bingo. As far as I go as well, anyway. I love South park. I watch South Park. Did I enjoy the Fish Sticks episode? Nah. But had I not watched this season because a few prior episodes disappointed me, I wouldn't have caught "The Coon" which I loved. Same goes with Wrestling. When I started watching (Attitude Era) until probably...The start of the Roster Split, I did little complaining. And since then, it's been more misses than hits for me. But had I simply abandoned ship a while ago, I would have missed plenty of amazing matches, and a few memorable angles/feuds/promos. I love Wrestling. WWE hasn't completely satisfied me the last few years. But, I continue to watch. Not out of the satisfaction to "whine" and "rant" but out of hope there's something I get to rave about.

I agree. I watch WWE because on each show I know there'll be a couple of matches, a couple of promos and other stuff that I'll really enjoy, so much so that it overshadows any negative thoughts I have.

However, somebody does need to explain the "gambler mentality" to me regarding an entertainment show. Especially since they can watch the clips they want to watch on youtube. Instead they feel the need to complain about the show as a whole as though they are being tortured. it's stupid

Seriously though, I stopped watching Impact about 3 months ago now, I may get a replay of Lockdown depending on the reveal of the Champion and the 3D/Beer Money match, but aside from 3D/Beer Money, I have not missed anything as far as I'm concerned. Which in itself is a shame because the TNA that's making money obviously isn't the TNA that I loved of a few years ago. WWE there is some stuff I disagree with, but I still love the majority of their product, and happily watch it. If they go the way of TNA though, it's going off too, and it's back solely to tapes of classics, Indy and Japanese stuff.

If people don't like it, like, the problem with people saying turn it off if you don't like it is, they will. The fact is, people have been turning off. WWE is having the lowest ratings they've ever had since 1997.
Long time wrestling fans have been turned off by the product, and I don't think it's that bad, but it could use some improvements.
It's one thing to complain for the sake of complaining, but if people have legit reasons to complain, then that should be all well and good. I'm really into nitpicking stuff. Because, it's not the big ridiculous things that will turn people off I feel. It's the little things that will turn people off. Small storyline continuity flaws, certain odd angles, stuff like that. I know a lot of former wrestling fans, and they just stopped watching it.
There are two types of disenchanted fans. Casual and internet fans. Internet fans still love wrestling, but something about WWE bothers them, and they don't want to watch. Casual fans liked WWE, but don't really watch other wrestling, so they stop watching. Internet fans are easier to get back, because they love wrestling no matter what, and bitch about WWE because they still enjoy some parts. The people you don't want to lose are the casual fans, because there's a good chance you'll never get them back.

The problem is that we live in a society where kids feel entitled to have things their way. This includes entertainment and if they can't get what they want, guess what happens?
That's my take on it.

Wrestling's been a part of my life for so long...I'd have a hard time just letting it go. But the truth is, it just hasn't been as good in the last few years. But i'll continue to watch in the hopes that it'll be what it once was again.

I don't think the "If you don't like it, don't watch it." argument is directed at everyone who airs a couple of minor complaints every week, It's directed at the people who do absolutely NOTHING but complain about every aspect of the shows every week.

i do agree with the OP, my slight rebuttle is that with wrestling alot of the people on here at least) grew up with or experienced the height of wrestling in the 90's and as such have high expectations.
