I didn't find it offensive but I can see why some people did. Good on Ross for apolgising, a lot of people wouldn't have done.

Bah, apologies. It was funny. Exactly, a little bit of black comedy ain't that bad, the fact that it was said by JR of all people made it 10x funnier too!

Exactly God Forbid we should have a Laugh Well what excatly did you find humorous about it? I'm really curious, Was it simply because it was in poor taste? Why is a remark about a dead person funny? Black comedy, the shock and offense value makes it hilarious. Without sounding all patriotic, us Brits take it a lot better than most Yanks.

Meh, for every person that found it funny, there's someone that didn't(I don't have an opinion on it, myself, I didn't see it), so good on Ross for making good to the people that were put off by it. That said, if you weren't, then it really doesn't matter either way, right?

I didn't think it was that funny, not because it was insensitive but because JR is one of those people who only make me laugh when they're NOT trying to be funny.

I never like it when the apologizer says that they are sorry for offending people, though JR did sound very much more sincere than most people who merely apologize for people being offended. I always figured it was just a saying that came out wrong because it was spontaneous.

Exactly God Forbid we should have a Laugh Well what excatly did you find humorous about it? I'm really curious, Was it simply because it was in poor taste? Why is a remark about a dead person funny? It's intrinsically funny because it's a play on words; the humor comes from the dissonance between the standard rhetorical use of "alive and well" and the unusual literal use of "alive and well" as it applied to Heath Ledger. If JR had merely said "Heath Ledger died tragically! Waka waka waka!" there is no humor. In addition, the fact that it contains shock value gives it added humor to a certain percentage of the population, but you've already touched on that.

If JR had merely said "Heath Ledger died tragically! Waka waka waka!" there is no humor. Okay, I'm pretty sure that this statement is the least correct anybody has ever been about anything. JR could have said that about my own mother and I would have laughed myself into a coma.

JR could have said that about my own mother and I would have laughed myself into a coma. Pardon me, no intrinsic humor. There is clearly "shock value" humor, as you have alluded to. I was just trying to point out that there's more than just the shock value at play here.

It's very odd to see someone who wasnt having it demanded of him to take personal responsibility. I respect JR for that.
As for the comment, meh, didn't know him so didnt care that much.

If the posters are out of line, the mods will bring it to their attention. If the posters are not out of line, try telling them directly in a PM, as in "personal message", not "public musing".

If JR had merely said "Heath Ledger died tragically! Waka waka waka!" there is no humor. Bullshit. If Jim Ross started quoting Pac-Man, it would be the greatest moment in WWE history.

If JR had merely said "Heath Ledger died tragically! Waka waka waka!" there is no humor. Bullexcretory matter. If Jim Ross started quoting Pac-Man, it would be the greatest moment in WWE history. I thought it was a reference to Fozzie Bear. Though Pac-Man ain't so bad.
