I personally am not offended, but I can see how others would be. Joking about people dying is not funny, especially when there are kids involved. Good for him for admitting it. Also, say waka waka at the end of anything and it is instant win.

I'm the biggest Heath fan I know, and even I made jokes about him after he died.
"Guess who ISN'T coming into Starbucks today? ...Heath Ledger. Cause he's dead".
It didn't offend me. Just surprised me considering how highly I think of J.R and respect him. I'm not trying to say "How dare he make that joke?!" it's more like "...Man, I thought J.R would know enough to realize all the heat he'd get for making a joke like that"
Oh well. He apologized. He's a hell of a guy.

It would've been funnier if he just would've ended it after "My bad."
Sorry, I just love evil JR.

What did he actually say? Not a direct quote, but basically, Rey Mysterio is dresses up as the Joker tonight...but that doesn't make any sense. Rey's career is alive and well! I thought it was funny, but I agree that Heath/Owen/Chris is dead waka waka waka is friggin hilarious. You're dead, you're dead, and ain't nothing gonna change it. Humor, especially dark or obscene humor, is a common way to deal with the most mysterious and unknowable aspect of existence. So something like "I wonder what Heath Ledger would be saying if he could see Rey Mysterio now...probably something like 'Let me out of this coffin!'" I would laugh for days at, while I can see why others would be offended. I'd rather mock death than fear it.

I'd like to think this is part of that weird thing that happened a year ago or so when JR was just constantly making weird, out of place pop-culture call outs.

I loved the entertainment that WrestleMania gave me... but most of the things that were said weren't paid attention to by me. I was more interested in watching the matches... although I DID hear Lawler beg Cole to use the term "Vintage."

I heard it, and it did completely go over my head, although I could understand how people could have been offended by it.
J.R. surely wouldn't have meant any offence by it, hell, I could hear the Curb Your Enthusiasm music going off in his head over the top of Mysterio's entrance music.

I respect the fact that he apologized to the Heath Ledger fans for offending them, but didn't actually apologize for his comment itself.

I respect the fact that he apologized to the Heath Ledger fans for offending them, but didn't actually apologize for his comment itself. I noticed this too. I hate those kind of apologies. At least he didn't phrase it with the conditional "if I offended." I usually call these kind of apologies 'Non-apologiy apolgies.' However, JR did seem earnest, much more than most who use 'non-apology apologies.'

Like I said, I respect him for this apology because to me, if someone doesn't regret something, they shouldn't apologize for it. Had he done that, the apology would be completely fake and mean nothing. By apologizing for the part he does regret, offending the fans, the apology he's giving is real and not just a lie to make people stop being cranky.

If Rey was wearing a Blue Blazer mask and JR said the same thing, would it have been as funny? Now that would've gotten a laugh from me. oooh you're edgy....
