Since there are discussions about hogan and wwe itself jumping the shark, I figured we go ahead and do one on vince's favorite son-in-law (and only one).
Some say he has gotten more stale over the years and point to different periods of his career when they believed he "jumped". While he is still one of my favorites I do admit that the recent match with orton (1-1 at least) was really lame for a main event at the biggest show of the year and can see more people continue to turn on him if he continues to be booked the way he is.

i think if we've already got two "shark jumping" threads we don't need a third
or the mods need to make an all "Jumping the shark" section

I put dx return, but basically his recent face run in general jumped the shark and has seemed more forced than anything he's done previoius.

I think he's always been about as good as a face, outside of the fantastic injury return after the power trip.
Still, he makes a better smartass heel.

Definitely after his first quad injury, he was never as good once he came back from it.

The DX reunion a couple of years ago. That was just silly.

Reign of terror. It did the most damage to the company and stopped it's growth by not letting new guys get over like RVD, Jericho, Angle and Booker T, instead fueding with guys he knew he was better than -Nash, Goldberg and Steiner. I think this run caused the post attitude stagnation that it's never recovered from. Call me a HHHater but that run killed all the momentum WWE had.

I'll be honest, I like Triple H. It's an unpopular view to have on this board, but I've just always enjoyed his work. That said, I really don't like how he's used his marriage into the McMahon family to propel himself to the top and keep himself there. It's not right and that's the only reason I no longer mark for him.

I dont mind him but i'm not a hhhater either. Somewhere in-between. It always irked me that other former champions like Benoit, Jericho and others went back down to do midcard stuff after they dropped the strap but Hunter never did anything long term with anyone that kept him out of the main event. Even HBK did a month long program with Chris Masters after facing Hulk Hogan. Undertaker feuded with Heidenreich for a few months. Hell the Spirit Squad main evented a PPV just because they were facing DX. I mean we know he's not gonna leave the company anytime soon so being in a different spot won't kill him for a change.
I guess one specific moment that stands out was despite losing to Goldberg two ppvs in a row relatively clean he's put again in the main event of Armageddon doesn't even show up on the RAW before the ppv and ends up winning the title from Kane & Goldberg.

When he sat down in the ring and gave a 20-30 minute promo that had something to do with Terri Schiavo.
Good f***ing GOD, that was HHH at his show-hogging WORST.

He was my favorite in 2000 and early 2001 until the injury. When he came back in 2002 he was just never as cool to me.

He was overrated in 2000. Given far too much credit that year..almost to a sickening degree. Same thing in 2001. But it was 2002 where everyone started to realize he was not as good as advertised and he was more a product of careful pushing and main event overstuffing than anything else. Well...of course he got with Stephanie in real life in 2000 too but no one knew that until it was far too late as he was rained down with overpraise like he was elite.

He's still awesome, I still mark for him. Although the time away will freshen up his character a bit and I want him as a heel badly.

As I've said before, been a fan of his for the duration of his career but 2008 really made me realize how tired of him I am now. Another 7 months as Champion, all just to get the belt back on Edge later. That reign was boring as sin (and despite some good stuff with Jeff, it did bore me more than his 03 reign) and the fact that he won it right back 3 months later made it even worse. Right now, if he's touching the World/WWE Championship I think it's a big mistake. He's an older guy, and having that belt on him benefits no one, and he is no more over with it than without it.

Agreed. I think it only worked, to an extent, in his last reign for giving more heat to Orton, in that in fit the story of Orton taking the last of what Triple H had.
