Usually, my tastes tend to stray far from the mainstream, but I do understand why popular things are popular...well, most of the time. Sometimes, there are things I just don't understand. What about you?
For me, it's currently Lady Gaga (which is sure to peeve whoever it is here that has her for their avatar). I don't listen to radio beyond what I have to at work, so I wasn't even aware of her music or what it sounded like until it was pointed out to me. And what I heard actually wasn't bad. The only song I can really remember is "Just Dance" which is simple, catchy, and shows that she actually can sing. But what the hell is she supposed to be? I was flipping through the channels a while ago and stumbled upon the "Pokerface" video. It was early and I had no intention to actually hear the song so I left the volume down. But the entire time, all I could think of is "What the hell is she doing?" The best I can gather, Lady Gaga is a prostitute-bot sent from the year 5005 which was transported to present time, only to suffer a malfunction in the time rift, which is the only reason I can explain the epileptic twitches that consists of her dancing. Worse yet, a few days ago, I stumbled on another video of hers, I can't even remember what song it was for because all I saw was the last 10 seconds, where she grabbed her crotch along with a bunch of guys. But not all sexy-like or even MJ-like. She just had her hand on her crotch and did more robot dancing in time with a bunch of burly guys. I mean, she's good looking and (from what I can tell) actually has some modicum of talent. So, why the gimmick?
Anyways, that's enough from me. I'm sure I'll find something else to rant about soon. So, what out there do you not "get"?

Tatoos. Especially when they're just words in some random language like Chinese or something. Do these people actually think that it's cool and mysterious to draw words in another language on themselves?
They also look ugly and you see the same damn cliches all the time. Skulls, dragons, barbed wire, yin and yang, previously mentioned writing from another language, etc. Also, I've noticed that the people who get them are usually chodes.

Ha, I don't know what it is, I'm one of the biggest Metal Heads on this board, but what can I say I love Lady Gaga for some reason. If she is from the year 5005 I wanna go there and meet others like her.

The whole "Seth Rogan/Judd Apatow" style of comedy. I like Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist, but that's about it from that entire little comedic subgenre. Unfortunately, that's become the standard.

I've had good and evil (in kanji) tattoo'd on my wrists since around '97. And yes, I did my homework on it. No, I don't think it's mysterious, but they do have meaning for me. But what do I know..I'm apparently a choad.

This. I liked the 40 Year Old Virgin because the comedy felt different and refreshing, but of course, that style has been subsequently run into the ground, and is no longer funny (at least in my opinion). Another style of comedy I don't really "get" is the Will Ferrell style comedy. I'll admit I laughed at a couple parts of Anchorman, but every movie he's made since has just made me roll my eyes and groan.

I usually don't listen to her style of music outside of Katy Perry (my other guilty pleasure), but there's something about her music that I like. Can't put my finger on it though.

Yeah, I refuse to see any movie with Seth Rogen in a leading role just because he's so damn overexposed. The thing is I just saw The 40 Year Old Virgin not too long ago and thought he was hilarious. He works very well as comedic support. On the same token, I kinda hate that because of movies like these, guys like Seth Rogen are now "the everyman" and girls apparently seem to like guys like him, IE quirky charm and a bit overweight. I fit in that category so why don't girls like me now? Also, because of these movies, apparently EVERYONE smokes weed. Not even because it's "cool", apparently its a given that they do. Well, I don't. None of my close friends do.

I'll echo that sentiment. Much like Lady Gaga, she has talent and she's also cute as hell. But really, why the whole 50's housewife gimmick? I mean, it suits her quite well, but why?

Skulls, dragons, barbed wire, yin and yang, previously mentioned writing from another language, etc. Also, I've noticed that the people who get them are usually chodes. thats ironic coming from someone that has a picture of scantily clad women in a provocative pose and one of them has an entire sleeve of tattoos on her arm... tattoos are a way for one to express themselves and to alot of people they have deep meanings to different periods of their lives...some people in regards to anything take things to the extreme or to an ignorant level and this is no exception i agree...but to label everyone with tattoos as a choad doesnt say much about you either...and by the way I have 5 1. A tribal band connecting to a personal logo I created at 18 around my upper right arm 2. A sun on my left shoulder blade because my mother always called me her "Shining Light" 3. "SLICK" written in Old English in an arch over my belly button because it was my nickname in high school basketball 4. The "KA" Sign from the Dark Tower series over my heart representing good 5. The "Eye of the Crimson King" from the Dark Tower series on the other side of my chest representing evil....
