I started hating on Nolan once he shunned Robin.
Robin is awesome and more people should start realizing.

At least, we know about quite a few instances in his case. Batgirl Original/Oracle, Starfire, Huntress, Tarantula(albeit under very squicky circumstances), list goes on.

Look, I love Nightwing as much as everyone else does (And if you don't...you're lying), but I agree with Nolan's decision to keep him out of the movies. Bale is too young (or young-looking) to warrant a sidekick.

Joker may still be back - but recast though. I think that may have been Nolan's original idea. I don't know who would be willing to step into the role to replace Ledger. It'd be a heck of a job. The same was said of following Jack Nicholson but it was pulled off. As great as Ledger was as the Joker, it's not as if he's the only guy that can ever play the Joker.

I would be okay with it if he said that but he didn't, he out and out said that Robin was a silly character and didn't belong in movies.
Screw that.

Whether he was serious or not, Bale joked he'd be associated with Batman the rest of his life, and would enjoy the ride.

I don't see how the age of the Batman character cuts him off from having a sidekick, young heroes have sidekicks all the time.

Well, I think the villain of the next movie should be a result of the plot, rather than the villain dictating what the plot is. That's what was so brilliant about both Begins and TDK. I raised an eyebrow over Scarecrow and Ra's, but it all made sense once I saw the story being told.
Right now, the storyline basically has Batman as a shunned outlaw, so as a result I could see even more vigilantes rising up (the outbreak of wannabe vigilantism was introduced in TDK) to bring him down. This could be anything from a reimagined Catwoman to Bane, Deadshot, or Deathstroke. Hell, let's just have a whole anti-Bat posse rise up. The equivalent of a mob with torches, only this time with supervillains.
The idea of Riddler blackmailing Gordon and Batman is decent and would serve for a great overarching plot, but it feels a little close to the Wayne Enterprises employee blackmailing him in the last one. Then again, I'm all for seeing the Riddler done right.
But you know... a pedo Mat Hatter would make for a delightfully wicked origin for Robin.

Batman would run in slow-mo a lot and there would be a ton of explosions. Then Linkin Park would start singing over his climatic battle against a Penguin that has been reimagined at a disgraced rapper. el oh el I don't care about seeing Robin or Batgirl, honestly. Those are characters better left to the comics. Cause Batman isn't a comic adaptation! Oh the wonders.

Gilda Dent as Holiday.
To me, its the only believable villian that will fit in the Nolanverse for Batman.
Gilda Dent seeks revenge on the mobsters who caused her to lose her husband. She dons the HOLIDAY persona and begins killing off mobsters while the Batman tries to discover HOLIDAY's true identity.
This could even be the birth of a potential Riddler as Wayne would have to find someone very, very clever to track HOLIDAY and find out who she really is. He hires Nygma to help him, but eventually Nygma is seduced by a life of crime or realizes that a life of crime is the only true way to test his mettle in terms of intelligence. He sees how smart the Batman is by the middle or end of the movie and decides to take him on.

Harvey was never married in the Nolanverse though, so I'd have a difficult time understanding the introduction of Holiday into this set of movies. If they make a 3rd film, I'd be willing to bet Riddler and Penguin are your main villains. I'd be cool with them putting Harley Quinn in the plot in a manner similar to Scarecrow in The Dark Knight, but we'll see.

Yeah I suppose I was just being comic nerd picky there, my apologies. Would you have wanted her to be the major villain in the movie? I would suspect she'd become the "second-string" villain in this sort of movie because she's not the traditional "comic book" villain. That's not to say the Long Halloween isn't one of the more well-known Batman books, but I think she'd be a hard sell on the traditional moviegoer.

Only because the whole mob angle is the one running thematic badguy throughout the new franchise. Plus it would give Batman a chance to do the whole "Holiday is killing badguys - should I even TRY to stop her?" thing. A Superhero angst scenario that regular moviegoers who aren't big into comics would be able to understand. I'd like to think she'd be a mainly unseen villian though and Bats would spend most of his time dealing with the mob or the Riddler. Just a thought: Maybe the Riddler could emerge as a former criminal who offers to help Batman find out who HOLIDAY is, but makes Bats jump through a bunch of hoops for it. Something like that.

I still think Two Face is going to be a big part of a third Batman movie. Harvey Dent may be dead, but Two Face lives.
