So, me and some of the guys got together last night and spent all night watching all of the Star Wars movies. It's amazing how much more you appreciate the originals right after you sit through the prequels. But at least now I have one less thing to do before I die.

Still don't get what was with Obi Wan's "jazz hands" on Dagobah when he was trying to warn Luke about taking on Vader.
Two thumbs down. Finger across the neck. Even flip him the bird. But jazz hands?

Yeah, I watched Empire Strikes Back last night. That was the first time I noticed it. My girlfriend said something about the Force surrounding him, maybe he was trapped in a box. In her defense, we had both been dipping into the refreshments heavily by that point.

DO NOT watch The Clone Wars animated movie. On the character scale of annoying to cool, Anakin's padawan makes Jar-Jar look like Han.

This is a feat I'll never accomplish. I can't bring myself to sit through all the prequels again.
I just...can't.

I tried doing that once but lost interest after making it through Episode I. I thought, "Ugh.... now I have to watch Episode II?" Never have been able to watch ALL 6 but I have watched III through VI.

I thought Episode 4 was incredibly boring after watching 1-3.
Granted, I only liked 2 and 3 .... and I love the whole concept but I didn't like 4

It's amazing how much more you appreciate the originals right after you sit through the prequels. But at least now I have one less thing to do before I die. Actually, now that think about it, this is interesting. Prequel defenders often cite that the original trilogy has the same problems as the prequels, bad acting, stiff dialogue, massive leaps in logic etc., and the only reason Episode IV-VI is considered superior is nostalgia. But I've heard people that were new to Star Wars complain about The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones will loving A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. The thing is to compare the odd couple of the respective trilogies, Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith, since they have more in common with the other trilogy than the ones they exist as part of. I quite like Episode III but it frustrating as a glimpse of what the prequels could have been. There are a lot of neat touches, the intercutting of the twins birth with Vader's reconstruction, the Order 66 sequence, the scene where Anakin contemplates his choice (probably Hayden Christensen's best acting out of both the films he's in and he doesn't say a word). It makes you wonder where was THIS George Lucas was and what was he doing when his other self wrote the scene when adolescent Anakin blew up the Trade Federation ship by sheer luck.

DO NOT watch The Clone Wars animated movie. On the character scale of annoying to cool, Anakin's padawan makes Jar-Jar look like Han. Fortunately, she becomes a LOT more tolerable in the CGI animated series. I don't exactly like her, but she doesn't give off the Mary Sue vibes she did in the movie. Now you have to read all the books. No, you really don't. Though you should read anything by Matthew Stover or Timothy Zahn. They're easily the best writers in the EU, IMO. Also, if you see "The Crystal Star" or "Darksaber," RUN LIKE HELL. For what it's worth, I LOVED Episodes III-VI. And I don't hate The Phantom Menace nearly as much as a lot of other people, JarJar and annoying kid Anakin aside. At least we got a kickass lightsaber battle out of it. Episode II I thought was the worst one by far.

Luceno's one of the better ones, but still not quite as good as Stover and Zahn, IMO. Labyrinth of Evil and Dark Lord: Rise of Darth Vader were both pretty good, but I didn't really care for his NJO books, though to be fair to Luceno, The New Jedi Order series was a massive multi-author clusterf***. Traitor was the only one I really liked, because it stood really well on its own and Stover somehow managed not to be pulled in by the suck. But at least he's better than Kevin J. Anderson. I'd put Luceno on the same tier as Drew Karpyshyn, whose Darth Bane novels are quite good.
