I tried doing this a couple weeks ago, but fell asleep after Revenge of the Sith. I'm just going to watch the old trilogy in one day soon.
But, how did you survive Attack of the Clones? It's horrible.

It's weird, I liked Episode 1 and 2 when I first saw them, but hated 3. I hated how it was rushed. I hated the first 45 minutes. I hated the "she lost the will to live." I hated the continuity error with Anakin's lightsaber. I didn't warm up to it til it came out on DVD.
I think if someone Phantom Edited II and III you would have some kickass movies. I like them for what they are, but they are no Empire.

I did this a few months back. Not all at once, but over a period of six days. I had a blast...and it reminded me of how much I actually enjoyed the prequels. I think I enjoyed them even more now than I used to.

They're all pretty fun movies for the most part, but Episode 2 doesn't get interesting until the last third of the film.

Strange...as someone that has actually never seen any of the Star Wars movies up until about a week or two ago (and im 24 years old born in 84) I actually liked Episode 1...I just really didn't understand alot of it....My girlfriend and her father suggested I watch it from 4-6 then 1-3 and it left more gaps then answers I feel...and alot of things seemed a little "too convenient"...that being said I really did like Hayden and the young Ani...

It's horrible. I really liked ATOC actually, never got why it got so much hate. I'd probably place it ahead of 1, 4, and 6 on my list.

I tried doing this once but only got as far as Episode II.
I like the prequels too. Admittedly, outside of Darth Maul and the podrace, Phantom Menace is pretty brutal. But Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith are quite good.

All six in one day? Never done that. Did manage one movie a day doing Episodes I and II on DVD, III in the theaters, then back to DVD for IV, V and VI.
I'm actually in an interesting point of view in that I no longer consider them individual movies but one whole. True, some parts are better than others (II, III and V for me), but honestly, as a whole, awesome series.
And I actually quite liked the Clone Wars movie. Now, a TRUE marathon would be all six movies, plus the two Clone Wars TV series and the Clone Wars movie.
As for the novels, Luceno's work is awesome (Cloak of Deception actually makes Episode I better, IMHO) but also check A. C. Crispin's Han Solo novels. They're really great for setting up Episode IV.

I read a book not too long ago about the construction and the eventual destruction of the first Death Star that was told from the Empire's perspective. Don't remember what it was called or who wrote it but was pretty good.

I actually only like episodes IV and V as well as the BioWare games, Episodes I and II are absolute garbage, episode III is fairly good, episode VI is pretty bad as well.

Don't remember what it was called or who wrote it but was pretty good. Death Star by Steve Perry and Michael Reeves. Pretty good book that fits awkwardly between Eps. III and IV. Need to really have read more books to see how it fits.

No, no, no. The Holiday Special is not canon, it has never been canon, and it never will be canon. George Lucas said, ad I quote, that he'd gladly take a sledgehammer to every copy in existance just so they'd never see the light of day. Remember this is the same George Lucas who would put Krusty's overlicencing to shame. That fact that he'd turn down money just to make sure no-one ever sees the thing says a lot. If you're a gamer, I'd suggest slipping The Force Unleashed in there before A New Hope.

But at least he's better than Kevin J. Anderson. . A dead raccoon is better than KJA. Have you read the ruination of the Dune series?!

I wouldn't watch the current clone wars series (CGI), I would watch the original Clone Wars series (the one animated by the creator of Dexter's Lab and Samurai Jack). Since original Clone Wars series ending goes right into the beginning of Episode 3 (at the end of the original Clone Wars series, Palpartine gets kidnapped by Gerivous and Dooku).

I still have to watch all 6 myself. I put up a poll a while back whether to watch it in production order or timeline.
I think I'll go with timeline.

I've been meaning to watch them all in order lately, but wouldn't want to do it all in one day. Also wouldn't the correct way to watch them be to watch Episodes IV-VI, then the prequels. I know chronologically its the other way around, but the way the movies are structured, it seems like it would work better that way.

And now I wish I didn't. Also, for the love of all that's good and right in the world, do NOT watch The Holiday Special. It is horrifically, unequivocally, absolutely horrible. It makes the worst of the prequel's moments look like The Godfather or Citizen Kane by comparison. Though if you do watch it, I'd buy the RiffTrax first. It is the only way the Special is at all watchable.
