Anyone ever see that (unlicensed) strip that had Calvin's parents give him some pills, and Hobbes didn't talk anymore? I always liked this better...

Being a huge life long fan of Calvin and Hobbes, that is perhaps the most touching ending/continuation that never happened to C&H. That would have been a beautiful way to end the series. I wish Bill was still writing,I love his work to no end.

I just saw one where Calvin and Suzie were grown up and making out, but Calvin says he feels like someone is watching him. And then it shows Hobbes as a stuffed animal. No nudity, or even near nudity, but I didn't know if I could post it I'll do it!!! ;D ;D ;D

I also think that there is the issue of perception/point-of-view when talking about Calvin's artistic prowess. Just as he perceives his teacher as a space alien and his stuffed tiger as a real companion, we can also consider that perhaps his snowman art is depicted by the artist through Calvin's eyes. That is, perhaps we see Calvin's intent as an artist, as opposed to the reality of the art. When his father walks past the line of saluting snowmen, perhaps he sees a row of snowmen, but not the perfect repetitions Calvin perceives himself to have made. Remember, we see Calvin's world through Calvin's eyes with occasional intrusions of an objective line of sight.

True, but when Calvin isn't in the current part of the comic, it tends to default back to the Objective perspective, and I don't recall his parents ever being in one of his fantasies as normal.

Found this one. It is entitled "How Calvin and Hobbes Really Ended". Is sad . Though of course it is just fan-fiction. Just like the movie "Drop-Dead Fred".

I find it a good comment on how nowadays you could never have a kid like Calvin because he would hepped up on an ungodly amount of pills.

Yeah, I get it as a piece of social criticism. I still find it incredibly depressing.

But if there is a motif, such as complex snow sculpture and a mundane response thereto by adults, wouldn't that itself become a normal trope, beyond the perspectives established in more common motifs?

But you have to remember, he was doing those snow sculptures ALL the time, even the grand becomes mundane if its common.
