Ok, so before anyone comments with something like "It's a comic. Get over it." I know it is. Here's the thing though, Calvin's parents have to be the two most idiotic people ever. A good example is most of the comics that Calvin makes snowmen in. I mean, just look at these! The kid is an artistic genius. He could be making a ton of money at the age of 6! His parents shouldn't smother this talent with all their complaining. I mean the kid has a knack for art, they should encourage this type of stuff. I know it's a comic and it doesn't have to make sense but seriously, if I had a kid and my kid was this good, I'd have him out there every day making this stuff. His time commitment is astounding. I mean, did he make all those in one day? Two days? How long each day did he take to me this. There's a lot of snowmen there. Could he really do that all in one weekend? Also feel free to post about anything else regarding this awesome comic.

The artistic world probably wouldn't think too highly on a snowman sculptor who talks to a stuffed tiger.

If he devoted his entire time to snowman building, when would he have the opportunity to fly his starship to other worlds?
Interplanetary exploration shouldn't take a backseat to snowman art says I.

He could use the money he got making snowman art to fund his space exploration though.

The artistic world probably wouldn't think too highly on a snowman sculptor who talks to a stuffed tiger. The artistic world would elevate such a person to the level of a deity. Of course, Calvin doesn't care. Tracer Bullet, Spaceman Spiff, and Stupendous Man are way, way too busy to be professional artists.

The only thing to get is that Calvin and Hobbes are awesome.
I kind of wish that there was an animated C&H movie

It's been partially addressed in comic; when Calvin knows he's doing something for a reason, for his betterment, it suddenly becomes less fun to him. To make him a professional artist at this age would be to kill his joy of doing the work.

The only thing to get is that Calvin and Hobbes are awesome. I kind of wish that there was an animated C&H movie At one point, Bill Watterson was said to be working on one, hand drawing each frame himself. That either turned out not to be true, or he abandoned the project. Not sure. But he's sort of a weird guy. Really secretive and super-private, so who knows.

I heard it was a show, and he scraped it because no studio would play by his rules.

I could totally see a series like that taking off on Adult Swim, or some such.

Actually I believe Watterson never wanted anything to do with an animated show or anything like that. That would involve licensing, and as I read in his 10th Anniversary book, he wanted no part of that.
I do agree though, on Calvin being a genius.

He didn't trust a studio or hired animators to do it justice.

Honestly, Calvin and Hobbes is so perfectly encapsulated in the past and the complete release that there's virtually nothing more the series needs to say. Any new material would probably just end up being repetitive of the old stuff or weaken the series as a whole.

And honestly, though it bummed me out, I really appreciate that Watterson knew when to say when with the strip. I would've hated it to become something like Family Circus or Dennis the Menace that just kept going until it was just sad.
