I started watching ECW just recently, I was interested in the Hart Dynasty, being a big fan of the former Hart Foundation. Well, I watched it and had such a great time. It's kind of like an old school wrestling show, where the show is centered around...WRESTLING. It was just so refreshing to see a one hour show that featured actual wrestling. I've been getting so bored with Raw just being two hours of "entertainment" and Smackdown is on a bad night, as I usually go out Friday nights.
The roster is great, the storylines were all easy to follow and believeable, the commentary is enjoyable, and it really is a great show. It's become a show that I don't feel like I can miss. I enjoy it that much.
Anyone else get this same feeling when they watch. Kind of like you're watching something that is more like the early 90's or late 80's than what's on today?

ECW is indeed a great show. The roster is awesome, the matches are consistently good, and IMO, they have the best announce team going. No complaints from me.

I still say the new ECW is better than old ECW. For me old ECW had some great talent and matches. Raven/Dreamer is one of the best fueds ever IMO. But there was always a ton of garbage wrestling and a lot of hacks IMO. New ECW has been consistently good to great for the last 18 months

yeah, there really is no weak point to the show. They'll usually have a nice opening match, a great main event, and some pretty good segments and maybe a couple more matches sprinkled in. The storylines aren't over the top at all. A really great throwback to old school shows, where even though the guys have set characters, they do most of the storytelling in the ring.
I just wish it wasn't treated as WWE's redheaded stepchild.

My sister doesn't even like wrestling, but she loves ECW. She loves the three-way feud between Swagger, Christian, and Dreamer, and thinks the Hart Dynasty is cool.
That should say a lot about how good ECW is right now.

I'm with britishbulldog on thinking the new ECW is better than the old ECW.
Great wrestling, future stars, current stars keeping themselves afloat until their big break, and past stars sticking around to make the new stars look good. The storylines that they have are simplistic, but highly enjoyable.
I look forward to the Tuesday Night Delight every week.

I have to disagree with britishbulldog, because to me, nothing is better than old ECW.
But I came to comment on the original post because it just occurred to me 2 weeks ago that I feel the same way. I haven't watched WWECW with any regularity, and it's now been on almost 3 years, right? But I have been watching semi-regularly since Christian returned, and just since his return, just about everything has become good.
Like celtics543 said, there is a lot of good wrestling to watch. And me? I like the characters on there, new and old, the motivations, the relative youth of the roster, etc. etc.
So to combine both of my comments into one general feeling, the new ECW can NEVER EVER be what the old ECW was (for better or worse, i say worse), but it is a damn good show that I look forward to watching. While nothing but Tommy Dreamer is reminiscent of the old ECW, it DOES have the "spirit" of ECW to a certain extent. And I can live with that.

The old ECW has never stood the test of time with me, and to be honest there was a lot about it I didn't care for originally. This ECW not only pays it a tribute by adopting most of the same principles the old had, but it outclasses it in wrestling and "keep it simple, stupid"-ness.

Until they bring back the "Pulp Fiction" show-ending promos, old ECW rules the day....

I don't think it's really fair to compare "this" ECW to "old" ECW, and I absolutely love this current ECW. There's just no similarities between the two, other than the name.

i still prefer old/original ECW. but having said that the past few months of this version has been their best stuff since RVD and Big Show had the belt early on. yes i actually liked Big Show's run before he got hurt. a guy his size is made for "extreme" rules. now i like that it's a spot for the young guys to get some seasoning and momentum without getting squashed by the "elite" guys in the company but having enough vets to help them get more credibility as well (ie. Christian getting pinned by the Dynasty even if it was more to build Swagger/Christian than Harts)

It's probably at its best right now that it's been at for a while.
I kinda ... tuned out after C.M Punk got drafted and only recently have gotten back into it.

These shows can change seemingly overnight -- towards the end of last year, I was calling Smackdown the A show. Then Raw got a crapload better around Rumble time, and ECW got really bad when it became nothing but the "new talent initiative show." Now, post-Mania/Draft, Raw has gone down the pooper, ECW's been amazing with Christian back and now Tommy finally winning the title, and SD... I haven't seen as much, but I'm going to start going out of my way to watch again now that Punk won the title.
So, I'm enjoying ECW right now, just wondering when the balance of power will shift again.

The storylines that they have are simplistic, but highly enjoyable. Except for the part about simplistic storylines, this is all what the original ECW was about. Paul Heyman wanted to give newer, younger guys the chance to shine, while he also allowed older workers to get involved. He also wanted to make sure the fans got their moneys worth when it came to the action inside the ring.

But, there are aspects of it that weren't good, and some of it grew stale.

I like the 2 matches they have every week but ECW just kinda seems like a nonstop recap of all the things I shook my head at on raw the night before

I really think that WWE would make their shows more "must watch" material if they didn't have 10 recaps a week. I mean, why should I dedicate 2 hours of my time every monday when I can get the storylines wrapped up for me in 5 minutes?
