I think it's basically what ECW would have eventually became if it were a nationally based third company. The promos would probably be edgier, the arenas smaller, the roster slightly larger, but it would have the same focus on in-ring action.
I do wish it had more extreme rules matches, more gimmick matches, more high flyers and crazy cruiser matches, things that would justify the "Extreme" in the name. I understand why they want to keep the weapons use toned down, so it means more and isn't all about garbage wrestling and crazy spots, but they really should have more of an extreme atmosphere.
At least the ECW Title should always be defended under "Extreme Rules."
Other than that though, I think the new ECW is pretty good. It can be a little vanilla sometimes, but it's consistently watchable and the matches are always quality.

In agreeance with many of the above posters, I also am in the nu-ECW bandwagon because there is more quality wrestling that appeals to people with nostalgia kicks (old ECW, more mat-based wrestling, less skits). For the available time they have on SciFi, they do deliver the goods.
An earlier post mentioned the light-heavyweights. I think this would be the perfect brand to bring the light-heavyweight title back to. They could cut out the RAW Regurgitation promo, and fit in another 5-8 minute match, therefore making it four matches per weekly hour, with the strong possibility of seeing two championship matches.

The Raw Rebound was around 5 minutes long last week. That's ridiculous. But, I agree. ECW is a great go-to show for wrestling and a glimpse into the future of the WWE. Apparently you don't stick with ECW. I remember recently where basically the ENTIRE middle of the show was video recaps or video packages. Thankfully, they ended that trend a few weeks back. That usually happens when it's taped with a supershow or something, which is why they only have time to tape one or two matches.
