I heard he never properly put out his cigarettes.
Jokes aside, I don't hate Benoit, neither do I hate any other murderers, eg Dahmer. I feel bad for their victims and hate that the human mind can become warped in such a way, but I don't hate them. Sometimes, I even pity them a little. Whereas I do hate people like Hitler or Stalin as they ordered people to kill people. But I'm getting offtopic.
There's no way of avoiding what he did in the last days of his life. It was truly terrible and completely inexcusable. It's not at a point where I can't watch his work, as I do appreciate it for what it is: a man working hard at something and making it enjoyable (IMO) to watch. However, if other people can't even bear to look at his image anymore, it's completely understandable as those 3 days mean a hell of a lot more than how well he could execute a dragon suplex. I know I'm being more neutral than anything, but it's a touchy subject and no amount of condemnations or forgiveness is going to change what happened. Maybe, my view is skewed, because I was such a mark of Benoit that I actually called my cat Benoit. Damn, that was a damn unfortunate naming.

I hope the power above made the right decision about his fate. I would if I was in that position.

I posted my thoughts in the other thread and feel obligated to make a post in this thread as well, but the exact words are hard. He used to be my favorite wrestler, but there's absolutely no excuse for what he did and he should be remembered as a man who murdered an innocent woman and child, not for being great at pretending to fight.
I guess that about sums it up for me.

He thought it could be done in the art of professional wrestling. All of his moves were violent. He waited all his life to kill people that he wanted to kill and he did the deed. I hope everyone of you can learn this lesson that he was born to kill people. F you Chris Beniot.

I'm a little lost. Did he kill other people? Was he actually a Terminator? If the latter is true, I've lost respect for him. Being a machine and entering pro wrestling is basically cheating. I can't tolerate that.

The lesson I learned from this? Just because someone can perform a German suplex doesn't mean he's a good person.

I'm saying this not as a Mod, but as a Wrestling Fan.
The Chris Benoit incident showed the world everything that is wrong with most internet Wrestling fans. The fact that there are people out there (On this very forum, even) who defend this murdering bastard for whatever stupid reason, yet bash others for supposedly "politicking" just goes to show how f***ed up some people's priorities really are. It's God-damned sickening.

It's God-damned sickening. Agreed 110 Percent. It shows that there are a lot of f'ed up people out there to support Chris Beniot. People who who view him as a hero to wrestling should be in the place where Chris was to actually witness it because it shows that they will want to see him kill people. It would make them want to change there mind. These people that support him can be compared to people who support Hitler. It's sick as F.

It's God-damned sickening. What I want to know is, if somebody the IWC hated(Kevin Nash, Batista) did the same exact thing, how would they react? You know they would bring their wrestling ability into the equation, I've read Triple H getting hammered for his ALLEDGED backstage politics more than Benoit gets for killing his wife and son, hell, Ultimate Warrior gets more hell for stating his opinons on gay people. As far as the brain damage goes, we only heard reports that he was acting strangely AFTER the incident occured. If thats the case, why couldn't he get help to stop all this from happening? You don't kill your wife and son over the course of two days without having some knowledge of what you're doing. Also, Benoit wasn't exactly the humanitarian who suddenly snapped like smarks want them to believe. I read him and Nancy were having maritial issues 4 years earlier, and came close to filing a divorce(I also read that he broke some furniture in the process), so there was definately bad blood in the past between the two. As far as WWE officially acknowledging his existence does, I say they should do it in very limited form. Keep his matches on DVDs, but DON'T advertize him or put his face on the box. I like how in the WWE encyclopedia they wrote a sizable biography of him AND included a picture of him. I guess that shows that it was hard emotionally for the WWE to edit him out because outside a handshake, they actually KNEW the guy, but they have to do that in a strictly business standpoint. Like it or not, to the majority of people, the last three days of his life overshadows everything he's ever done in his career. That is all.

I didn't care for Benoit before he did what he did, so I have no problem with dismissing him as being nothing more than a child-killing puke who doesn't deserve to be remembered.

Benoit could have been a saint, and I would still never understand what the big deal with him was. No promo skills, no charisma, and I can't think of one match of his that I sat through in its entirety.
I realize I have a different taste in wrestling than many here, but I can at least see what others see in certain guys (i.e. I was never a Steve Austin fan but understood why people liked him). With Benoit, it was baffling to me. Same with Malenko. A boring short guy stiffing his opponents and hitting 100 german suplexes. Wow. How exciting.

Imagine that you WERE one of his past opponents, and then realizing that those same hands that were upon you, were used to strangle his wife and child. Creepy....
