Benoit killed his family. Some people can separate the two lives of Benoit, but not me. The guy who could throw a hell of a German Suplex also killed his family. Wrestling is fake, remember that. Killing people isn't.
I remember actually shedding tears when I heard Benoit died, only to turn that into hatred the next day because I had actually felt bad over a bloody murderer. I could care less how much workrate he had, because when it came down to it, he was a vile human being who killed his wife and son. Like Bob Schlapowitz mentioned earlier, I get a little sick inside when some people defend his actions and then turn around and hate a HHH or Batista, or Cena because they can't put on ****1/2 matches according to Dave Meltzer or Scott Keith or because they 'politic' to keep their spot on the top of the card. Because killing people is undoubtedly tame compared to marrying the bosses daughter in a fake sport.
I'll leave it at this, Benoit is scum and I hope he's rotting in hell as I type this. I spent too many years watching his matches in awe only for him to throw his life away in the most brutal way possible. Nothing will ever change the fact that he's a murderer, not a ***** match against Kurt Angle in 2003, and not the inclusion of him on any future WWE DVD releases.

Guys lets Keep the Micheal Jackson talk out of this thread. This is about Benoit, not about MJ.

I seriously don't get the he was ill defense. Again, name one murderer that WASN'T touched in the head. I kid, I kid, nothing was ever proved. Many people have said that the girl was messed up on drugs and fell over the rail. First off, NO ONE defends Benoits actions. NO ONE. You would be surprised. And I'm not talking about the conspirators and wackos, I'm talking about regular wrestling fans.

Watching that really brought me to tears for the first time in a while. Just thinking about how someone who used to be my hero would be capable of doing such evil things. It just hurts so bad.

I wish I had a Men In Black flashy pen. For all of us. For or against Benoit. That is all.

Benoit was a murder, he killed his family with his bare hands. As opposed to these other types when the father uses a gun on his family then himself, he brutally beat his wife then strangled her to death, and smothered daniel. Then he hung himself.
It's just such a violent and disgusting end to the lives of 3 people.
I also seriously don't get this "it wasn't the same guy" defense. If that's the case we should be so forgiving of all murderers since they are also mentally ill/emotionally destroyed

I can"t respect people who still love benoit, killing yourself is one thing but the killing of women and children is even looked down on by hardcore criminals in prisons. no piece of art or entertainment is more important than human life. One "friend" (a big benoit mark) told me that his family deserved it. i think he was joking but even then its an incredibly stupid thing to say and i lost all respect for him at that moment.

I love the Sheik but can someone please interpret what he was saying for those of us who don't understand Iron Sheik. He makes Danzig sound eloquent.

I agree that some of the people in this topic really need to tone down some of their statements towards Benoit fans. Just because I can watch most of his matches with a clear conscience does not mean I condoned any of his actions on that fateful weekend.
This is an anti-Benoit topic, not an anti-Benoit fanbase topic.
Now, I can understand why people refuse to or just cannot watch any of his matches. I tried watching my all time favorite Benoit match recently. It was Benoit vs. HBK vs. HHH at Backlash 04. It is the only one I just cannot watch, if not for the fact that Nancy and Daniel are there at ringside and they end up getting just enough camera time so that I cannot seperate the man from his actions long enough to enjoy the match. At the very least, I can definitely understand why people don't want to see him at all.

What are these Benoit hazing/ribs everyone's talking about? The only one I ever heard about was the Daivari one. Even before I found about all this, I found his tribute show creepy. I thought it was weird the whole "make his son dress in suits and show uber respect to everyone" and the "make some guy (now I know is Daivari) do 500 indian squats because he somewhat offended Shawn Michaels (who by all accounts brushed it off)" and just how serious everyone said he was and how kind of weird he'd blow people off. O and that one story where he "kicked Matt Striker out of hte locker room". I thought it was weird since Striker always seemed like a bang up guy and wondered what he could have done to incur the wrath of a "respected veteran". So... yeah about those malicious ribs everyone's talking about? If the Daivari one isn't true, what is everyone talking about?

You know what I find interesting...how no one rips Regal when in his speaking piece he basically acts as though he knows what happened and says that no matter what everyone should remember that Benoit was the absolute best.

the only thing i dont like about chris benoit is how every single match he was in the internet would label it as great no matter the match. now chris benoit is one of my favourites of all time but when you see matches like against angle at wm 17 and eddie guererro at ons labelled as all time classics then it shows that people just look at who is in the match rather than actually watch it. really pisses me off
