Aha, found one! Nope. that doesn't look evil at all. To be fair, I'm pretty sure he's supposed to there. He'd often do that sort of grin after doing stuff like headbutting Stephanie, or other "cruel" things, probably to play up the whole Rabid Wolverine, Crippler schtick.

I knew there'd be people that would defend him, but I NO idea we'd see the amount of people who somehow 'don't understand' how WWE could leave him off TV and DVDs.
Huh?

To move the topic slightly, remember the tribute show the night after. It might have been the weirdest thing I have ever seen; how in the beginning it was a full blown tribute, and as the facts became clearer, they stopped mentioning it. Yeah, I remember that. One of the strangest things I'd ever seen. After Regal's 'tribute' I started thinking, 'Uh-oh'.

I heard that Benoit never re-wound VHS tapes before he returned them. In all seriousness though, I can't really watch his matches any more, I did however, which was kinda sick on my part, made he tap out to a choke on DoR2 for GC after the fact. On a side note, is it just me, or is it really surreal that video with the Iron Sheik, New Jack and Hony Tonk Man all yelling about "F*** Benoit!" I never expected to see all 3 of thiose guys in the same room ever, let alone going off on Benoit.

At ECW One Night Stand, Stone Cold told Benoit to do a diving head butt. Really sick. If you think about it, it was kinda creepy. It was during that one segment when they were all beating up Bischoff.

i'd say it was more of Austin saying Kill that son of a bitch as he did it... but i'd still list the suicide comment after Awesome's suicide dive a little more creepy

How exactly is that creepy? Because that was one of the events that may have led to his brain damage which in turn led to the dementia which led to the murders. One instance alone isn't going to trigger that. The first time he did it can be blamed just as much as any one. The guy doesn't deserve to be remembered positively IMO. There is this big black cloud of death that prevent me from being able to think of Benoit otherwise. Its another thing to look at him objectively and try to figure out WTF happened inside his head, please do it.

I was a huge Benoit fan, primarily cause i was a huge Dynamite Kid fan growing up, and Benoit was the next thing to him.
After everything came out, i looked at Benoit as still the same amazing wrestler. Still had the same faults, no charisma or mic skills. His wrestling career was still the same. But i do find it hard to watch matches, not really because of what he did, but because if he takes a chair shot he doesn't cover his head... when he dives to the outside, he'll crash into barricades head first. All stuff which supposedly added to the brain damage that lead to him killing his wife.
Because i do believe it was a sickness that made him do it. Someone questioned earlier how he could plan to murder his family if he was ill... i dont think there was a plan, i think he snapped and did it. Thats why he lived with a deceased Nancy for 3 days. He wasn't in his right mind to do that... he was completely gone.
But that doesn't excuse what he did. I lost all my respect for him when he did it. I used to want to be like Chris Benoit, and would happily embrace how he is and who he was. Now, i'd like to have his talent, but i'd hope i was never mentioned in the same sentence as him. Whilst the guys talents and faults in the ring should not be affected by the tragedy, they should also not be used as justification for a heinous act.
Whether he was ill or not at the end, whether he knew or not what he was doing, the man still took two innocent lives (and f*** off to those who said Nancy had an affair and deserved it) he then took his own. He's a murderer, and thats as simple as it is.
If people want to watch his matches, i'm fine with that. I dont see that as supporting a cold blooded killer, you're watching a talented wrestler have a match.
If WWE add him to DVD's, it's ok cause some things he was part of are quite important (ortons first reign for example) So long as he's not plastered all over the covers. If people buy the DVD's they're not supporting him... no money goes to a dead guy who killed his family, but for those who want to see the historical moments he was part of, there it is.
Both of those things are discressionary. The choice of WWE, and individual fans, and i dont think anyone can be judged for it. The only thing i think can be judged really, are the minority (and it is a minority realy) of fans who for some reason think that if a guy has talent, it's ok to excuse his behaviour. Still watch and enjoy mathes by all means, but please, dont sit there coming up with theories why the guy was innocent, or making out like the crimes he commited dont matter at all.
The man, at the end, was a killer. A talented wrestler, but a killer all the same, and I think it's important that he is remembered as both things.

^Michael Jackson was proven innocent every time it went to trial, so yeah, it's easy to separate the two. Plus yeah, child murder is a little worse than child molestation in any case.
Michael Jackson was and is a legend, Chris Benoit is just a punk now.
It's pretty selfish but I just dislike Benoit because he made it so that I can't get into his matches anymore and that he forced WWE to erase him from existance.
I have as much emotional investment in his death and the death of his family as I do in every other nutjob-husband-kills-wife-and-kids case. That is to say, not much emotional investment at all.
I wanted to enjoy the legacy of one of my favorite wrestlers but he made it so I can't. f*** that dude.

He's the ultimate heel.
Srsly though, I liked Benoit OK, but the fact that he is a murderer would always be going through my head if i watched any of his matches. Luckily, the WWE has taken that decision out of my hands regarding their broadcasts.
He's not the first pro-wrestling murderer, though. Although he might be the first one to murder his wife and kid.
