I'm saying this not as a Mod, but as a Wrestling Fan. The Chris Benoit incident showed the world everything that is wrong with most internet Wrestling fans. The fact that there are people out there (On this very forum, even) who defend this murdering bastard for whatever stupid reason, yet bash others for supposedly "politicking" just goes to show how f***ed up some people's priorities really are. It's God-damned sickening. I agree with you 100%. Although I believe most of those people are basically just hiding behind there computers and wouldn't dare say those things in real life If I talked like I do in real life I'd get banned on this forum, I am far more confrontational in life than I am on this forum due to rules.

I've never been angry about it, just really depressed and creeped out. He was easily my favorite wrestler. He was the ultimate underdog and was put over because of his ability, not politics or physique. I told people who didn't follow wrestling that it was like LeBron James killed his kid, baby mama, and himself for a Cavs fan. I just feel unsettled whenever I see any Benoit footage.
I remember hoping Nancy was a fault at first, just because I was selfish and wanted to be able to mourn Chris. But that's just delusion, either way a family was destroyed.

It's been out there for years that Benoit was a worse person backstage than JBL when it came to bullying people but, it was ignored because of his in-ring stuff while JBL was and still is crucified for it. The man is scum personally and professionally and I can only hope that whatever fate awaited him after his actions was...well, appropriate for him shall we say.

That bastard ruined the McMahon death angle. THIS. In complete seriousness, too. I was completely enraged when this storyline was ruined and scrapped due to the events that happened. Selfish, I know, and completely and totally not in the big picture. But REALLY. After months and months of nothing exciting .... and then Vince went BOOM ... only to have it TOTALLY RUINED the next week, because some f***ing sick douchebag decided, "Hey, I'm gonna murder my wife and kid today, whoo!" f***ing f***. It makes me furious just thinking about it, about what Benoit ruined. I usually don't get angry when I think about the tragedy, but then when I start to think of all the reprecussions and the results of his actions -- s*** that's come down on the WWE, on the McMahons, on pro wrestling as a whole and on the fans -- it just pisses me the f*** off. I get slammed so many times when people find out I'm a wrestling fan, typically they'll be like, "Oh my god, that guy murdered his family, how can you watch that?" And it just sucks that the fans, some of us (former) fans of Benoit's, have to take flack for what the f*** he did. And not only that, but some of us actually cared about the guy, admired him, and to have that come down around you is just .... damn it.This is just one stem of my anger - not the entire thing. Just one of the little pieces of this tragedy that makes my blood boil.

Oh I hate that attitude in people as well. I personally don't judge how well I like a wrestler by ANY backstage actions (legal ones anyways). I love guys like HHH, Hogan, etc because guess what? Their politicing doesn't mean shit to me! I just enjoy what I see and that's what matters. On top of that, politicing is just part of the game anyways. Always has and always will be. And before anyone asks, yes I am posting in both Benoit threads and it's because I have good and bad memories of him. I'm posting this message here because I want to say that I think the guy is a piece of shit for what he did.

It tends to get to me when people want to blame someone else for what happened, especially Vince McMahon. Yes, steroids and HGH has been rampant in wrestling for a long while, and the work schedules can be grueling, but look at how many other guys on the roster working the same schedule didn't kill their families.

I don't get any feelings of anger, violence etc.
But when I see people still posting "RIP" and such towards him... I shake my head.
-Edit-
I So.... So... want to post in the "pro" Benoit thread about how much I did enjoy his matches. Some of those matches were my favorite matches to watch.
But every time I think back on any match of his that I enjoyed... All that enters my mind is what he did. That will always shadow anything positive I think about this guy.

I stopped playing Smackdown vs Raw 2007 because of this crap... Everytime I'd play a pic of his smiling smug face would pop up and it would just make me stop playing...... As more information came out the more shocked I was that it happened.... And as a married father of 4 kids, I was pissed beyond belief that he did what he did.... Maybe brain damage may have played some part in it... I don't know... Benoit was almost the single reason why I almost gave up on wrestling...... I do still watch some of his earlier work, but I can't bear to watch Wrestlemania 20 because of this.......

He was a cheater, a women beater, and eventually took the lives of his wife and child, and ruined the lives of his other children and closest family.
In all instances it follows a pattern of destruction. Chris Benoit wasn't the first or last husband to kill their families and kill himself afterwards.
It's something that happens way too frequently and especially with people losing their jobs, the rate of divorce, and pressure of life in general.
That just really sucks that he had to not just kill his wife, but brutally beat her, put a pillow over her and strangle her to death, then smother his son.
Concussions, change of personality.
screw it, he was a rotten human being.
sure he was one of my favorite in-ring workers, but nah he's never going to be that anymore.I can't praise his work. I can't respect him.
Chris Benoit ribs went way farther than JBL's and most of them were sadistic and mean spirited if i'm going by rumors, which people think is fact and justifies their hate of Bubba Ray, JBL, Hardcore Holly, but it seems like he stiffed rookies for fun, made daivari piss blood after doing 500 hack squats for botching in a match...
The man was garbage

Chris Benoit is easily the greatest token wrestling "Boring Guy" (The wrestler that can get away with no personality, every roster needs one) that ever was. Was a huge fan of this guy since his debut in WCW 95 and had remained a favorite for years.
After reading the details upon his death I wanted absolutely nothing to do with the guy. Wrap your brain around this a sec. The guy slaughters his wife and then his SEVEN YEAR OLD SON with his bare hands before hanging himself. That is beyond ****ed up. I have no reason to support such a monster. He deserves nothing.
I also find it sad how many fans still support him and sing his praises after all he's done. Only in wrestling can you defend a child murderer.

I hate Benoit as a person, he was a sick twisted individual. However, no matter how much I try, I can't hate his matches. I hate being told I like murderers, because I don't, I just like watching his matches.

I pretty much stopped watching wrestling for a whole year after it happened. It was just...sad. The whole thing. The way it all ended. Just a sad f***ing story.

It's God-damned sickening. This post is very accurate. I'll never understand how on one hand, people can hate one guy for "backstage pull", and on the other hand not condemn a guy for murdering his wife and child. Let me break this thought process down for a minute. If someone posts on a wrestling board that they enjoy Triple H's in ring work and choose to ignore his "backstage connections" , that person is most likely labeled an idiot by the majority of the "Internet Wrestling Community". But if that same person makes a post "bashing" Chris Benoit for murdering his family, many IWC fans chastise that person for not being able to separate Benoit's in ring work from his outside problems. Even more ridiculous is the fact that some people get mad at Vince McMahon and WWE for not mentioning him on TV, or leaving him out of DVD releases. Vince McMahon is more concerned about protecting his company and shareholders than with "giving props" to the career of a "nut" like Benoit, and I have no problems with Vince "erasing" him. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Benoit like some people on here, but his actions still disturb me to this day. It doesn't matter to me how many suplexes or submission holds that he executed over the years, the crimes that Chris Benoit committed during the weekend of June 24th 2007 will forever overshadow anything that he ever did in a wrestling ring. This is without question the worst thing ever to happen in the history of pro wrestling.

I'll admit, I hate him. More than any other wrestler ever. He committed one of the most heinous acts a human could possibly commit, and yet so many people want to forgive him and love him. There are so many people who haven't done anything nearly as bad, but get more hate and venom than Benoit ever will. And I can't accept that. See, despite my more neutral opinion stated above, I can definitely understand this more then the "forgive and forget" sort of stance. I've never understood the "Great wrestler, lets ignore the last 3 days" thing. You no i used to think like that myself that he was a great worker and all the rest of that sh+te and that we should you no forget the last 3 days and then i watched the ric flair dvd the four horse men and duringthe Benoit Parts i came very close to tears and in the end i had to turn it off in closing benoit is a piece of shit who killed his kid his own f***ing Kid and i hope that there is a hell and hes there.
