Just to add more confusion Halloween II will actually be a remake of the original Halloween III. hmmm, maybe if they go with how the halloween series was INTENDED to be this will be good. BTW I didn't mind rob zombie's halloween, he just made an exploitation film with michael myers but so many people didn't like the idea that it got a bad reputation.

But, a sequel to a remake isn't uncommon. I think most recently it happened with the release of "The Hills Have Eyes Part II". Although, the original Hills Have Eyes movie wasn't as revered, nor as successful as the original Halloween they still went on to make two sequels. So, under those standards it had become a franchise of sorts. Well, sort of... Hills Have Eyes III is one of those totally unrelated retitlings. explain

Why all the hate for Rob Zombies movie? Just wondering. I thought it was a pretty good movie. I cannot speak for everyone, but for me, it just pissed me off to no end that Zombie claims to be this huge Halloween fan, and then he goes and tinkers and f***s with a formula that wasn't broken in the first place. But you know, I don't hate Rob Zombie. His film WAS a labor of love, and I can appreciate that. The man just wasn't meant for THIS franchise. Had he been given the TEXAS CHAIN SAW franchise, he'd have hit a grand slam home run. I KNOW he would have, because every f***ing movie he's ever made has been THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE. No, the thing that pisses me off about this movie, is that Rob had a chance to silence his critics. He had a chance to make his dream project, and from the looks of his movie, about halfway through, he just said "f*** it" and scrapped his vision and went with a direct remake of the original source material, thus making a schizophrenic film that is part re-imagining, part remake, and a total and complete mess, from my POV. Others enjoy it, and you know, that's FINE. Everyone has things they like and don't like. I respect that. Me, I just personally don't care for this movie. And I LIKED Rob's other two films.

I'm just commenting on the people that act like it's a big surprise that another Halloween is being made (or Friday the 13th, or Nightmare, or Chainsaw, etc, etc). Everyone acts like JUST NOW it's getting to the point where they make a ton of sequels for no reason. No, it's been that way. It was a running joke by the late 80's and early 90's. Hence stuff like Back to the Future having the Jaws 20 or whatever it was in their movie. Hence The Critic cartoon always spoofing the never ending asembly line of these movies. They don't bother me at all. I say keep pumping them out, but to act like they are JUST NOW starting to get ridiculous with how many they release is crazy. These movie serieses were notorious for this LONG ago.

It's just like with the Saw series in the 80's a new Friday the 13th movie would come out every year

These movie serieses were notorious for this LONG ago. That's not MY biggest gripe, Pool. My thing is, back then, even the crappiest, most atrocious slasher flick had a little bit of heart and soul, and heck, it at least FELT like everyone was TRYING. These new DTV crapstorms they grunt out every Tuesday....these things are just SHAMEFUL cash grabs using the names (and in some cases, fan goodwill) of once great franchises. THAT's what pisses me off. The quality of these films lately, there's no excuse for....especially when it's a big name studio that's churning them out, and HAS the money for better things. Do it RIGHT or don't do it AT ALL.

They don't bother me at all. I say keep pumping them out, but to act like they are JUST NOW starting to get ridiculous with how many they release is crazy. These movie serieses were notorious for this LONG ago. It was even something of a joke in the 1940s, when Universal began cranking out stuff like Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, House of Frankenstein and others. Half hearted attempts to get audiences to see the Universal monsters "team up" or whatever, even though the film itself plays almost like two different mini-movies cobbled together with a rushed "meeting" in the last reel. I don't really think the 80s slasher boom is nearly as "heartfelt" as we try to remember it as. Most of these people were after your money, first and foremost. Paramount was famously quite highly embarrassed by the success of the Friday the 13th movies, but they cranked out more, because they made money. Granted, the direct to video market created these sort of "fan projects," where slasher fans would essentially run around the woods with blood packets and make a poor man's Halloween. But who's to say that, while the Weinsteins are just looking to make a buck (which isn't necessarily true), the directors, writers, actors, etc. behind this new crop of horror aren't putting out something of a labor of love in regards to their own pictures? We want to think the stuff we grew up on was somehow more authentic than the stuff kids today are growing up on, but by and large, that really isn't the case.
