since it's not a remake of the sequel but a sequel to the remake. Or does this count as "a remake in name only"? Confusing days, folks. EXCL: Inside Helmers Stalked by Michael Myers Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury's departure from Dimension Films' new Hellraiser film was not a sour farewell after all. An industry insider tells ShockTillYouDrop.com under strict anonymity the French duo behind this year's artsy bloodbath Inside, are in discussions with Bob Weinstein at Dimension Films about another potential film to make their American debut. Our source tells us Weinstein has offered them an opportunity to helm Halloween 2, the inevitable follow-up to Rob Zombie's Halloween. And even though Bustillo and Maury recently said they were developing another new French thriller, Snow, these Halloween 2 rumblings corroborate whispers we've been hearing that the pair were close to committing to a U.S. picture. Zombie has expressed publicly his disinterest in helming another Halloween. The writer-director's reworking of Carpenter's slasher milestone made $78 million worldwide. www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/topnews.php?id=6344

I don't like this idea at all. A sequel to a remake of a long running franchise would be totally retarded.

Eh, it's inevitable. With or without Rob Zombie and with or without Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury it's going to happen.
But, a sequel to a remake isn't uncommon. I think most recently it happened with the release of "The Hills Have Eyes Part II". Although, the original Hills Have Eyes movie wasn't as revered, nor as successful as the original Halloween they still went on to make two sequels. So, under those standards it had become a franchise of sorts.

So why does Zombie not wanna do another Halloween? Not that we need one, but just wondered why.

What is the f***ing point of even doing another Halloween movie, let alone a sequel to a bad remake? Are they going to redo the entire story? If so, that's massively idiotic. Wasn't Loomis killed in the remake? Without the character of Dr. Loomis, there is absolutely no f***ing point in doing more movies. He was more vital to Michael's character than Laurie was.
Damn Hollywood. Why can't they EVER leave well enough alone?

Is it wrong that I actually want this film to undo the wrong-doings of the first remake?

Is it wrong that I actually want this film to undo the wrong-doings of the first remake? Yes. No matter how they try to make things better, it'll make things worse.

What is the smurfing point of even doing another Halloween movie, let alone a sequel to a bad remake? Are they going to redo the entire story? If so, that's massively idiotic. Wasn't Loomis killed in the remake? Without the character of Dr. Loomis, there is absolutely no smurfing point in doing more movies. He was more vital to Michael's character than Laurie was. Probably better to spin it in a different direction than slavishly following the original franchise, then?

Uhm, didn't the end of Rob's Halloween kinda put a sequel out of the question?

Uhm, didn't the end of Rob's Halloween kinda put a sequel out of the question? Well the end of Halloween 2 (the original) kind of put any more sequels out of the question but there ended up being 6 of them. Since when does someone dying in a horror movie stop someone from sticking around for a sequel.

As a longtime fan of the Halloween series (even the sequels), I'll just pass on this.

Just to add more confusion Halloween II will actually be a remake of the original Halloween III.

I liked the remake. Zombie did a good job. Plan on getting the three disc when it comes out. Now these new guys may not to so well, or they may be amazing. Only way to judge something is to f***ing see it.

Since when did everyone become so concerned about the quality of Halloween movies? They haven't ever really stopped making them. The first one was great, the second one was ok,3rd different and remake was better than the sequels, So who cares if they make another bad one.
If it's a Halloween movie best bet is not to go see it at the theater and watch it on TV. You pretty much know what to expect.
