Again, not a lot of substance to say here, other than entertaining stuff. I'm watching SmackDown right now and this Let's Play is vastly more entertaining than just about anything the WWE is putting on these days.
Good job.

Entry 18: I'M... ACTING!(Note: I'd again like to apologize for the appearance of the pics, for some reason I ran the game in fullscreen instead of in a window like I usually do, and thus the screenshots ended up having those black borders and I didn't want to start cropping them all.) --- Monday, April 25 (continued)We waltz into the Drama Club's room as they're doing tongue twisters. At some point they notice Seta is there, and introduce themselves. The guy here is Nagai, the club president, and that girl there... y helo thar. Yumi here is a second-year student like Seta. Ooh yeah! Hooks in you. Hooks in me. Hooks in the ceiling for that well hung feeling. No big deal, no big sin. Strung up on love, I got the hooks screwed in......no? I wouldn't have minded. I think. "Basically, we don't do jack crap here." They also say we don't have to come to practice every time, but when we do there is an Expression bonus to be had. That's nice. The girl who told us the previous information introduces herself as the vice president of the club, and she obviously has something going on with Nagai. Ah, great, this will turn out just fine. Then again, this does seem like a friendly club, which is something that really can't be said about the soccer team. Yumi gives us some voice lessons. I almost pick the middle option which I imagine as an Ahnold impression or something that a pirate would say, but I don't think she'd like it if we already started fooling around. Apparently, that didn't go too badly and Yumi doesn't think I'm a total creep just yet. She also doesn't notice that practice ended a while ago and everyone has gone home. Yumi: "I'm glad you can take orders. ;D"Fate, you say? Nah, it was actually the people who voted for Drama Club in the thread. Yeah! "Actually, it's Twilight. Just don't do what they do and you'll be fine" Well, this didn't go too badly. We didn't embarrass ourselves yet and she seems to like us. Great success indeed. S***. I really need to get on with the whole "saving Yukiko" thing or Chie will destroy me. But first, let's see if there's anything in the fridge this time. Acting makes you hungry, you know. Great, red miso that is so far past the expiration date it's turned into white miso. For the love of god, does anyone ever go to the grocery store around here?! Don't you make me repeat it. Eating the random crap that's occasionally found in Dojima's fridge gives a significant boost to Courage (which we will need later on), but will make Seta feel sick and forces him to go to bed early for the night.--- Tuesday, April 26Seta somehow recovers from eating the miso the previous night, and on his way to school he meets Chie who is understandably getting really worried now. OH MY GOD THE MATH TEACHER IS MICHAEL JACKSON She asks Chie a question about a number that is half the sum of all of its positive divisors. Of course, Chie asks me for help, and I have to say that math has never been one of my strongest areas. I still manage to answer correctly this time, though. Fascinating, eh? At least we got an Expression bonus from it and Chie appreciates us just a bit more now. During the lunch break, Yumi comes by and basically demands we come to Drama Club practice today. I really, really should go to the TV world already, there's three days left until the fog comes. The club members decide we've wasted enough time practicing the basics already, so we try some real performing now in the form of a short skit of some kind. Of course, Seta goes first. That went pretty well. However, Yumi totally nails it. Everyone says she is so good that it's scary. Well, excuse me, Princess. That reminds me, I should have gone to save Yukiko. We're really running out of time. With that said, Nagai stammers that he had planned for his girlfriend to play the female protagonist and... ...ICE BURN. Eventually, Nagai gives in and lets Yumi play the main role opposite... Seta. Obviously, since Seta is the only guy in the club besides him, and what he really wants to do is direct. Sounds harmless enough. And of course we'll do this right, no half-assing things around here. In the meantime, Yumi tells us why she thinks acting is awesome... I think she's got issues. An identity crisis or something. Eventually, she snaps out of it and we get back to practicing. We seem to understand Yumi a little better now, and you know what that means. Social Link up, baby! I... Gee... Hrdrl... grlpyt... well, if you insist! Whether or not we actually ad-libbed a kiss is not mentioned. This is going better than I expected. I wonder what happens next time. Craaap. Okay, no matter what, tomorrow we are going inside the TV. We have to. F*** this envelope crap. Since we're now applicable for the translator job, I'll go accept that pretty soon. But first, we save Yukiko. We must save Yukiko. --- Next time on LPP4: Storming Yukiko's Castle once more! Look forward to it!

Entry 19: Training Montage (ft. Tony Montana & Sir Lancelot)--- Wednesday, April 27Yes, we are going. Right now. Trust me, I know what I'm doing. Why, there's ALWAYS time for a Let's Play! Continuing where we left off. Floor 7, housewares and unfortunately named mages. Yeah, the one on the right is bigger, that means it's stronger and should be killed first. Chie's Persona learns to crack some skulls. This is an excellent attack, because along with causing physical damage it will usually confuse the enemy it hits. Confusion works pretty much as it would in a Final Fantasy game; whoever is afflicted will attack their allies and throw money around. Kinda like a Finnish bar patron on a Saturday. (for some reason, this screenshot was taken in windowed mode. It's not out of sequence or anything, though) Angel learns Hama and Sukukaja. Hama is a Light spell that instantly kills anything that is weak to it and has the chance to insta-kill anything that's not immune to it (including Seta, if an enemy happens to use it on him and he's not immune). Sukukaja raises an ally's evasion. Ah, f***ing trap chests! I wouldn't mind if it zapped Seta's HP because we have healing spells and medicine to go around, but getting that SP back drains all my Soul Drops and sodas, making things harder for us. Well, we've made it to the top. Behind that door is a boss fight. Our levels, however, are NOT up to it. (Yes, I tried and got my ass handed to me)Thus, we GRIND. And when we do that, we need inspirational music. This will do fine. Senri knocks down a mage with Agi, and Yosuke uses his follow-up attack to whack another one. We also run into this asshole that reflects all elemental spells back to us. It doesn't have a skull, but we crack it anyway. Dekunda is another highly useful spell, it removes all debuffs from a party member and returns their stats to normal. Yomotsu-Shikome (wow, the current design actually looks kinda pleasant compared to that original one) and Nata Taishi, future fusion fodder. We also get Omoikane (wait, that's a female?), Orobas and Valkyrie. Crud, it's this guy again. He's now a normal enemy, which means that even though he looks imposing, he has less HP than the boss version AND he also has a weakness. THE POWER OF HAMA COMPELS YOU! Yep, instant kill. What we're doing here is that we are now going back DOWN, killing everything that moves and collecting whatever items there are to be found. Think Sir Lancelot from The Holy Grail, just going the other way. We reached the top, so once we get out we can just warp back there. Mabufu is an ice spell that hits all enemies. Much handier than hitting them one at a time, and takes less SP too if there are more than two enemies to hit. The Kevlar Vest raises Seta's Defense stat from 34 to 58. Very, very useful. We also find a Physical Mirror which reflects a physical attack back at the enemy. Will be useful later on. It took long enough, but we finally found one of these locked rare chests. This one contains Ice Vow, which is an accessory that boosts a character's Ice spell damage by 10% once equipped. Chie gets it. When we get out, we pay a visit to the Velvet Room and fuse Oberon. He's not really needed at the moment, but he gets some good skills so I thought "why not?" As we go back and kill some more monsters, Senri levels up enough to learn Media, a spell that heals all party members slightly. Right, now the levels are looking a lot better and we may stand a chance against the boss when we return tomorrow. For now, let's go home and sleep. What the hell is going on with this guy's dreams? --- Thursday, April 28No. After school ends, we go buy some weaponry and items and return to the TV world. In we go. Two Yukikos. Figures. An upcoming lengthy monologue. Three princes? Shadow Yukiko: "A land far, far away where no one knows me. If you're my Prince, you'd take me there, won't you?"Pretty please with sugar on top? Teddie catches on pretty quick. He's not a stupid little bear. Yosuke doesn't seem to be sharing Teddie's enthusiasm. --- Next time on Let's Play Persona 4: Shadow Yukiko finishes her monologue. Boss fight? Boss fight!

Entry 20: And this bird you cannot change, whoa oh oh ohWhen we last left our heroes, they entered the lair of the boss of the dungeon, that being Shadow Yukiko here. We ended the previous episode in the middle of her monologue, so let's pick up from where we left off. --- Thursday, April 28 (continued)Shadow Yukiko confirms that the third prince she mentioned is, in fact, Chie. Poor Teddie never catches a break. This is getting rather interesting. Don Was of Was (Not Was)? What does he have to do with anything? Oh well, that's a shame. Hey, maybe CM Punk can save you. I don't know if the shaved head would suit you, but it might be worth a shot. Hammertime! CONTINUE!Shadow Yukiko: "I'm so sick of it! To hell with it!"Shadow Yukiko: "Someone please take me away... I can't leave here on my own... I'm completely useless..." Yukiko: "Stop... Please stop..." Shadow Yukiko: "I have no hope if I stay, and no courage to leave..."Well, I think we can arrange something if you would just stop talking. Shadow Yukiko: "Historical tradition? Pride of the town? What a bunch of bullshit!"Shadow Yukiko: "Isn't that right... me!?"NO DON'T SAY IT DAMMIT Yosuke: "Stop! Don't say it!"They never listen, do they? Well, here we go again. *sigh* ... ...Did this just become one of those hentai games Cthulhu always talks about? GYAH! Okay, I guess it didn't. Instead, Shadow Yukiko turns into a caged bird. (Everyone except Teddie probably sees the symbolism here) Time for our first true boss battle, the ones we've seen so far have basically been practice runs for the real thing. All right, then. Let's dance. Can I request a song that's just perfect for the occasion, though, my dear Princess? What's that, you ask? FREEBIRD!!Naturally, the first thing we do is Rakunda. It's a good thing for the boss to lose more HP from our attacks, you know. Yosuke casts Sukukaja on Chie because Chie is weak to fire and, by the looks of things, we'll be getting some fire spells thrown in our general direction in a few seconds. Raising her evasion should help at least a bit. Seta's attack stat gets a boost, so now his spells will do even more damage. Sure enough, Shadow Yukiko tries to blast Chie with an Agi spell immediately afterwards, but she dodges it thanks to Yosuke casting Sukukaja on her there. Senri can use Agi and Zio, and since I don't think fire will affect this particular boss very much I zap Shadow Yukiko with lightning (which, ironically enough, is Senri's weakness but she learned Zio via skill inheritance during the fusion process). That's quite a lot of damage. Yosuke hits her with Garu, doing less damage than Seta since his attack hasn't been boosted but still a respectable amount. Chie's Bufu spell seems to be pretty effective as well. Shadow Yukiko isn't very impressed by what she's seeing. Oh, what now? I hope this won't hurt. ...Well, I'm rather underwhelmed. That runt is the most impressive Prince she could summon? I would have tried to get the one who would make us party like it's 1999. Chie f***s him up and damages Shadow Yukiko with Mabufu a couple of times. Now she's getting worked up. Crap. That sounds bad for Chie, I didn't have time to make her guard. Sure enough, Chie gets knocked down, but everyone's still mostly intact and instead of hitting the big attack the second time, Shadow Yukiko decides to make herself and the Charming Prince immune to ice. Okay, now she's pissed. I guess this is what it sounds like when doves red bird-woman things cry. Yeah, just keep on hitting Seta with the fire spells, maybe they'll start working at some point! (Seta, of course, has Senri as his Persona at the moment, and she is immune to fire) Now that's just rude. OW. Another hit on Chie and another extra turn to Shadow Yukiko. Shivering Rondo? That sounds even worse. Actually, it kinda sounds like the name for a Castlevania game. BAH GAWD ALMIGHTY, SHE JUST DROPPED THAT GIANT BIRD CAGE RIGHT ON TOP OF YOSUKE! WITH GOD AS MY WITNESS, HE'S BROKEN IN HALF!! Shadow Yukiko seriously has like 5% health left at this point, so once I revive Yosuke we once again go for the barrage of spells on the boss and hope it dies before we do. Which it does. Even if it didn't die on this turn, we wouldn't have had much trouble because I don't think Seta received any damage in the entire battle, and he could have defeated the boss even if Chie and Yosuke had been wiped out at the end. After the Shadow is taken care of, we see to Yukiko and check if she's all right. She seems to be fine, albeit embarrassed about what her Shadow just said. Yosuke comforts her as well as he can. Next time on Let's Play Persona 4, we see the rest of the aftermath of the boss battle and the dialogue that takes place there.

Entry 21: I didn't expect we'd make it this far[/size] Previously on LPP4, we beat our first real boss (as in, first boss that actually might have killed us) in an epic fight. Now, it's time for some more dialogue. --- Thursday, April 28 (still continued)First of all, Chie apologizes to Yukiko for... not really doing anything. She also mentions that she was always jealous of Yukiko. YOUR PRIDE HAS BUILT A WALL SO STRONG THAT I CAN'T GET THROOOOOOOUUUUUUGH... err, sorry about that. Chie, I don't think she has any idea what you are talking about. As for Yosuke, don't forget to mention the physical trauma you inflicted on him the other day. Aww, this is touching. However, remember that there's no easy way out. There's no shortcut home either. "Can't you see? You're just another part of me." (NOTE: I promise I'll try to use less captions referring to 80's music from here on out. They're just making it so easy here that I can't resist)This awakens Yukiko's Persona, Konohana Sakuya. Chie: "Of course! Don't even mention it, I'm just so glad you're safe..."Yukiko: "Rather... What are you?" Teddie: "I'm Teddie! So, who threw you in?"Yukiko, however, doesn't remember anything about her kidnapping, nor can she recall who it was that called her name then. Teddie is disappointed about not finding new clues, but Yosuke tells him that at least now we know someone IS throwing people in here. Teddie... Anyway, Yukiko is not feeling so good so we decide to leave the place... umm, Teddie? What's the problem? You live here, you know (as Yosuke also tells our furry friend). I don't think we want this guy hanging around us in the real world, anyway. "Man, I hope I don't have to come back here anytime soon." That "Rawr" sounded very disturbing. Well, he's a quick learner, that's got to be said. Yeah, I think it's time for us to go now, before this turns ugly. After the journey back to our world... Yukiko still can't remember anything. Meanwhile, Yosuke theorizes that the person we saw on the Midnight Channel was not Yukiko but her Shadow (which makes sense) and her suppressed feelings somehow took form in the TV. Not a bad theory there. Um, Yosuke, I think Yukiko should be taken home RIGHT ABOUT NOW and we should come up with the theories later. See, the game agrees with me. Chie takes Yukiko home and we all promise to talk about this at a later time. Well, we've rescued Yukiko, but the mystery has just deepened. Time to head home and wait for Yukiko to get better. Hey, it's Dojima and Adachi! Long time no see! "Actually, we're going drinking again, but we thought we'd stop by just for kicks." Okay, now that he formally introduced himself, he'll officially be known as Adachi. By the way, Adachi is voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch, who you might remember from... well, every anime dub that's been made in the last decade or so. JYB also voices the main character, although of course Seta doesn't have many voiced lines besides shouting the names of the Personas he summons. Adachi tells us Yukiko has been found, which of course is something we know already, but I guess we'll play along. Adachi doesn't believe that the case is closed and decides to voice his own opinions on the matter. RANDOM ACT OF VIOLENCE AGAINST ADACHI! At least Dojima isn't doubting Yukiko, which is good to hear. Nanako mentions she's hungry, so we all decide to have dinner. Um, Dojima, I'd just like to recommend we stay away from the miso tonight, I'm pretty sure I saw it move when I looked inside the fridge earlier. Do we even HAVE any food in this house? --- Friday, April 29Ooh yeah, a day off! Time to hit the town, although there's not much to do there right now. At least we'll go apply for that translator job, so we can get other sources of income besides the *shudder* envelope construction and the cash we get from killing monsters and selling their stuff. --- All this will happen next time on LPP4! Also, more dialogue!

We needs our Persona 4. Mainly because this is twelve types of awesome, and slowly is giving me more reason to hunt for and buy this game. That, and I'm getting away from him in game (as in, just completed my second dungeon and will be going back soon to fight the bonus boss). Also, M Blaze, if you do the bonus boss fight in Yukiko's Castle, be prepared for the toughest fight by far and large that you've come across in game.

Hey M Blaze, have you been playing P4 as of late? Yeah, I have the screenshots for the next couple of updates ready, I just haven't had the time to actually post the updates because I've been a bit busy with some school work and Mass Effect 2 in the last couple of days. Oh, I know. That guy is the hardest boss in the entire game as far as I'm concerned, so when I eventually go and fight him (sometime around level 20) I will make sure I'm prepared, preferably with a Persona that is immune to physical attacks. I have played through the entirety of Persona 4 twice before and beat every boss in the game including both of the "secret" super bosses (neither of which we'll be seeing in this LP because those battles are available only in New Game+ and I obviously don't have a finished savegame on my computer), so I'm not exactly a newcomer to this and this is most certainly not what you would call a blind run. (I am, however, trying to maintain some degree of "kayfabe" in my commentary, though, in order to avoid spoiling anything for the reader)

Entry 22: PORTAL TO THE MEAT DIMENSION (no, that's not the name of a Japanese adult film)For those of you wondering, we've been playing this for eight hours and 33 minutes. In that time we would have finished an action game or survival horror game (speaking of which, I have Silent Hill 2 on the PC and I might do an LP of that at some point even though it wouldn't be as good as From Earth's Silent Hill LPs), but here we're only getting started. --- Friday, April 29Yep, that's the plan. Between this, the Drama Club and generally being awesome, we'll be getting a lot of Expression bonuses. Hey, why not? Mega Beef Bowl sounds like the manliest dish ever. Or it could be a good name for the protagonist of Space Mutiny. "Big McLargeHuge! Slab Hardchest! Bolt Vanderhuge! Mega Beefbowl!" Okay, this might be a bit tougher than expected. But look at that bowl! It's tiny as hell! If that's the quintuple-sized bowl, the regular one must be really small! Needless to say, we possess none of these. Also, "unrelenting tide of beef" is now officially my second favorite expression, right behind "How appropriate. You fight like a cow" and slightly ahead of "Efficiency and progress is ours once more!" Yeah, we job to the clown car beef bowl of doom. Still, we get a bonus to Understanding, Diligence and Knowledge, so it was worth 3,000 yen. *cue Junes jingle, followed by Nanako's rendition thereof* Golden Week is a week consisting of several public holidays. Dojima asks if we want to go on a trip. Eh, why not? Not really, I suppose. Nanako, of course, wants to go to Junes. Dojima isn't exactly enthusiastic about this scenario. Hell, who would? It would be like going to Wal-Mart on the busiest week of the year, since everyone's on holiday during Golden Week. Nanako is still excited, though. The fog has set in, but since we saved Yukiko we probably don't have anything to worry about. Let's check the Midnight Channel just in case. Nope, nothing. Seta Sôji and his merry friends have, indeed, saved the day. By the way, should you fail to rescue the victim in time, you get a call the following morning with Yosuke or someone else informing you that the victim has been found dead. It then goes to what TVTropes calls "Heroic Blue Screen" and you get the option to go back in time to a week before the deadline. All right, let's... Huh? *cue ominous music* --- Yeah, this update is really short but I thought that was an effective cut-off point. Next time on LPP4: dialogue.

Entry 23: ...my fried tofu...--- Saturday, April 30We meet Yukiko at the school gate. She seems to have recovered well and apologizes for causing us trouble. Also, I seem to have the uncanny ability to take a screenshot when the character portrait is blinking. I don't see much of a difference. Yukiko mentions that her mother's back to work, the maids are being very supportive and everything is going smoothly at the inn. She also says it's a bit embarrassing that we saw and heard all of her hidden feelings. Aww, she's so cute when she's blushing! Chie arrives and Yukiko goes to talk to her. That's... not very energetic, but nice anyway. what what. WHAT. Mt. Olympus aka Olympus Mons on Mars. Another Knowledge bonus for Seta. Now that Yukiko's back, we call a meeting on the rooftop to discuss her kidnapping once more. Yukiko: "But when I woke up after that, I was already in the castle..."Psycho Killer. Qu'est-ce que c'est? Yeah, I think we've established that by now. It's B. Brian Blair! Where's the Iron Sheik when you need him? Yosuke Hanamura, Ace Detective. Yeah! We ask if Yukiko wants to help too. Chie as well, I suppose. "I will SOCK you in the Adam's apple!" [/CM Punk] Oh yeah. Yukiko: "I want to know why this is happening... Especially if someone hates me so much they want to kill me."Rock on. That might be a good idea. So, what did the victims thus far (including Yukiko, even though we saved her) have in common? Mayumi Yamano, Saki Konishi and Yukiko Amagi... well, they're all female. Also, both Saki and Yukiko had some connections to Ms. Yamano (Saki found her body and, of course, she had been staying at the Amagi Inn). We also realize that since the victims appeared on the Midnight Channel, we'd better watch that whenever there's a rainy night in case someone appears on the TV again. The girls start eating their instant noodles, and of course Yosuke decides he needs to have a bite. Ah, Yukiko, you're an angel. OM NOM NOM... err, whoops. Hey, don't blame me, I chose "Try a bite"! I don't suppose Seta has had any decent food in a long time, though, since he's staying at Dojima's place and all... Aww, I'm so sorry! Really! Crap, we're gonna get executed? Oh. That doesn't sound so bad. She really sounds like she needs a hug. I volunteer. --- Next time on Let's Play Persona 4: Buying steak for the girls! Also, visiting Teddie! And what about Dojima and the planned family outing? Look forward to it!

In case anyone was wondering about the lack of updates in the last couple of days, don't worry - I am not quitting this LP unless I run into some major technical issues that prevent me from playing the game or something.
In fact, I have the screenshots for part 24 ready to go, and that update will be posted pretty soon.
