You steal men's souls, and make them your slaves!
Terrible dialogue or not, this is the best Castlevania game period.

Yeah. Kinda sad that the dialogue has been changed on the PSP version. Just finished re-playing it, and then I discovered that Maria's now a playable character.

"What is a man! A miserable little pile of secrets!" *throws glass* "But enough talk. Have at you!"
Seriously though, classic, classic game, with what may be the greatest soundtrack of any video game in...ever. Look at it this way: that soundtrack gave us The Tragic Prince.
THE TRAGIC PRINCE.

She was also a playable character in the Sega Saturn version that never got a US release. I still cannot get to 201%. This game has stolen mah soul!

In my eyes, it's the most overrated game in the castlevania series, sure it's a good game, but it isn't the castlevania game to end the series of games.
I thought Portrait Of Ruin was better than SOTN, but when I say that, people look at me, Like I farted in a chruch.

"Die, monster! You don't belong in this world!"
For me, this is the game that got me back into Castlevania. I've already beaten this game so many times, that I lost count.

I just so happened to find this in an old box of games last weekend, and put it in the PS3 and started playing it.

Very, very awesome game. I love it.
It's so strange, up until last year, I didn't own the game at all and I'd barely played it. I now own it twice, on XBLA, and PSP with Dracula X Chronicles. Just weird.

When I bought my PS3 the first game I bought wasn't a PS3 game but SOTN. One of the best games I've ever played and I never get tired of it.

Is she a playable character on the Xbox Live version too? I own the Playstation game still, but I don't actually have any of my Playstations hooked up right now so I was thinking of buying that version.

Amusingly enough, they play pretty differently. PSP Maria's based more on her Rondo of Blood playstyle while the Saturn version is something entirely different. BTW, the Sega Saturn version (which never came out here) is a terrible port.

I had the Import copy for the Saturn, and it's not bad gameplay wise, but it does not have the lighting effects that the PS1 version had, so spells and fire, etc look somewhat dull. They add 2 new sections of the castle though. I did beat it with 204%

So far, alot of the Castlevania games have been very good which means the series is in the hands of capable people.

I have to get more of the GBA and DS 'Vania games, I didn't have any handheld system for the longets time so I could never play them.

I swear someone loved that so much they put it in MapleStory, practically at least.
