Hey, you summed it up perfectly eariler... It has nothing to do with the band. It has to do with the album. And wether you liked the album or not that album was (one of) the biggest thing (s) in music for the 90's. It deserved to win. Period. The Chronic is much more indicative of music in the 90's than the Black Album.

I'm by no means a rap fan. I liked the 80s stuff I grew up on(Beastie Boys,Run DMC,DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince) but then it got to be way too vulgar for my liking. However,as stated earlier,I'm not a Metallica fan plus there was a few songs off of The Chronic that I could tolerate.

The Chronic is much more indicative of music in the 90's than the Black Album. The Chronic pretty much defined West Coast rap in the early 90s, and made the G-Funk sound insanely popular. Not my favorite hip-hop album, but extremely influential.

I didn't say anything about Dr.Dre's crap.& i'll remove the one of statement in the quote because honestly you can't say anything was near as big as that Nirvana album.

Well,it did start that whole g-funk era of the 90s that became huge. Snoop Dogg,2Pac,Warren G,etc. all used this form of rap in the 90s. I didn't really like it but it did start a new form of rap in that era.

Sorry if anyone feels differently but frankly i don't think rap music is that important or good for that matter.

I know WHO you were talking about, but WHAT you said applies just as much for Dre. You don't like rap? That's more than fine. But to ignore the influence Dre's album and rap in general had on the music landscape in the 90's is impossible. And no, I don't believe it was as big as Nirvana which is why I added the (one of) in paranthesis. But Nirvana wasn't in this match so that has nothing to do with it.

Whatever influence he may have had i don't think it reaches anywhere near the level of influence Nirvana & the whole grunge era had in general.
