Spurs could be in trouble if they play Sebastien Bassong on Sunday against Liverpool - Bassong was sent off last season for Newcastle against Fulham and was banned for two games, but has so far only served one of those games, against Aston Villa. Spurs claim that the ban applies to Newcastle, and that the game against West Brom was the second game, but Spurs signed Bassong before that game, so if he plays against Liverpool, Spurs could be heavily punished if they're adjudged to have fielded a suspended player. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/t/tottenham_hotspur/8194412.stm

Isn`t there someone at the FA that Spurs can phone and just ask if the guy is elligible or not? Doesn`t sound like it should be too hard to work out.

Rumours are we've made a £2.5 million bid for Reading's rather crazy centre back Andre Bikey. He's a good defender but good lord his disciplinary record is poor. Attacked a stretcher bearer, gave away a stupid penalty against us, and stamped on Robbie blake before throwing a tantrum after the red card. Can't think he'd do any good for team spirit, plus he'd be suspended for probably 2 games (Only 1 however if we used Spurs' absurd method of bans for clubs). He would also be the first player I know of to serve a suspension for the club he got suspended against.
I have to say as talented as he is I wouldnt want him- worth the risk in the Championship but he's far too hot headed and would be a liability at Premiership level. For £2.5 million I'd much rather we got Gary Caldwell- also an international, got 1 year left with Celtic who are after Kilgallon, suggesting somebody's being replaced, and his brother plays for us and will be playing alongside Gary for Scotland this week, so I'm sure we could get him on decent wages for £2.5 million fees. Yet there's nothing about us being after Gary C.
Bikey would IMO be 1 of 2 things- a surprising success or an unmitigated disaster signing. I'm leaning towards the latter.

I think this Bikey deal was sorted around the play-offs last year, that must be why he got himself sent off, he even symbolically threw down his shirt. £2.5m seems a decent deal for us, he has the potential to be a top defender but at the moment is too much of a liability. He's really laid back when playing too, he often leaves things to the last possible moment, that's not too bad in the championship but I think he might get caught out on in the premiership. If you didn't know he's on a warning about his future conduct, hence the 4 game suspension so if he does lose it again he could be out for a long time.

Hrm. Then yeah, definitely cause for concern. Much rather have Gary Caldwell but I sadly dont see that happening, even though he fits all of Coyle's check boxes- he's young-ish but experienced, strong CB, and Scottish.

3 Arsenal players in a 0-0 draw between the Netherlands and England U21s - Nacer Barazite and Kieran Gibbs started the game, Jack Wilshere came on after an hour.

Nice 4-0 result for us today, Harris's third goal was so super that I'd be going into an orgasmic range if any of you knew who Harris, or Millwall, are.

To be fair, if Harris hadn't had cancer, then we would've accepted the Premiership offers for him that we had received prior to the tragic news, so who knows.

I preferred the BBC's coverage of the football league over the ITV coverage.

Looks like we have a new signing, he's a Millwall fan, so it's good that he's at the club he loves.

Today's a big day here in the Western Hemisphere. USA/Mexico in WCQ from Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. 100,000 pissed off Mexicans at 7,000 feet above sea level in smog conditions twice that of legal world standards throwing batteries and bags of piss. Good times. The English/British will remember that stadium as where The Hand of God and the Goal of the Century happened in succession.
The US has never won in Mexico (0 wins, 22 losses, 1 tie), but the pressure is squarely on the Mexicans today. They need a win in the worst way as they are currently 4th in the group. A great result for the US would be a draw.

Freddy Adu is working on a deal that will be a 1 year loan to Odense BK in Denmark with the option of getting his contract bought at the end of the year.
I'm not to familiar with the league in Denmark (though I do know that Benny Felheber has improved ten fold since moving there), and I don't know anything about Odense, so can anybody tell me if this is a good move for Adu? Adu is one of the more talented players on the US roster, but needs PT in the worst way
