Arsenal lost their last pre-season game 2-0 at Valencia, how they faded in the last 20 minutes of the game worries me for the new season, and we've got Everton next week. On this evidence, we'll do well to get a draw there.

I'm still confident we can win at Everton but I'll be happy with a point.
Also looks like the first leg against Celtic on August 18th could be moved to the following day because U2 are due to play a concert that day.
How this has happened is beyond me.

For those wondering why I'm posting match results of teams you've never heard of, these are results from the A-League, the top Australian football league. Today's result saw Newcastle get a late goal to take the points in a 3-2 win over Wellington. This was the first time Newcastle have won on the opening weekend in the competitions history. Newcastle Jets | 3-2 | Wellington Phoenix | Hoffman 12', 22' | Goals | Sigmund 26' | Naidovski 84' | | Greenacre 43' |

What is the quality like over there? Also considering historically the Aussies have been great at Cricket and Rugby but not very good at football what are the average attendances like? Is football or soccer as I think you call it the most popular sport? Who is the most popular foreign team over there?

Is football or soccer as I think you call it the most popular sport? Who is the most popular foreign team over there? I don't watch a lot of games from the other leagues, so I wouldn't know for sure. Although, the way our 2 time A-League winning goalie Michael Theoklitos was humiliated at that Norwich game, it may not be that good when compared to the major leagues of Europe. The average crowd for the A-League has been hovering around the low-mid 10,000s since it started in 2005. I think this is pretty good considering it clashes with the final months of the Aussie Rules and rugby league seasons, and the entire home series of international cricket matches. No. Aussie Rules football is the main game here, followed by cricket, rugby league and then football. But football is definitely on the way up. Our national team has qualified for a second consecutive World Cup and they have never been ranked higher than they are right now. Also, the A-League is bringing in some world class players like Robbie Fowler and Jason Culina, which will in turn, increase attendances and awareness. The popular foreign sides would be your usual suspects, you know, Manchester United, Chelsea, AC Milan, etc.

Are you coming up for the game? We`re going to be leaving at a stupid time in the afternoon to get there in time. Without traffic, we live just over half an hour from Celtic Park, but add in the football crowd, the U2 crowd, and the 10 miles of roadworks on the motorway into Glasgow and it`ll take hours.

Good - and I'd suggest fair - result for us yesterday at the Hawthorns. Was a very enjoyable game to watch on the TV too. Still, not sure our squad is quite good enough yet to challenge at the top.
That's why I'm kinda happy to hear Ashley might be staying now. So long as SOME sort of decision is made soon I'll be pleased. If he doesn't make one soon, we'll have no chance to sign anyone.
It's also good news because it appears David O'Leary is going to be our new manager. I don't care what anyone says - the guy is a pretty decent manager. Hopefully David can come in and sign some quality players for the full back and striking positions, then we might actually stand some sort of chance.

Chelsea is back in for Pato apparently... only to loan him back to Milan for 2009-2010. As a Milan guy, I wouldn't mind that deal, get the 45 million pounds that the deal is rumored and it gives them more than enough time to line up a replacement for Pato.

£45M for Pato? Sell him now! He's great but not indispensable.
Milan wouldn't really need to replace Pato yet if he left since they have Huntelaar.
