What was your opinion?
I liked it. It never really scared me though, even at 10 years old. The trailer was one of the creepiest things ever though...

I like it a lot and I really don't get the hate it gets nowadays. I think the most important thing for a fiction is the atmosphere, and this movie has a very creepy and surreal feel, so it is a success, IMO.
I'll admit the ending is BS, though.
Also, I hate it when some people bash it only because they lied about it being legitimate footage. What, the guys didn't really die so it sucks? That's sick.

I loved it and it scared the piss out of me but only in certain settings. Alone and in the dark it was great. Lights on and with people around it was meh.

Also, I hate it when some people bash it only because they lied about it being legitimate footage. What, the guys didn't really die so it sucks? That's sick. This. At 10 I thought it was the scariest thing because it was made out to be actually real, and the atmosphere was one of the creepiest things ever. I would be scared s***less too if I were lost in the woods with no contact to the public, while a crazy psycho or "witch" was stalking and haunting me IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. I didn't want to have anything to do with any place that looked remotely similar to the woods after seeing that movie. Keep in mind, I was 10. I'm also going to have to agree with -Lithium- about the trailer. Whenever the first 2 seconds to the trailer showed up during commercials, I would quickly change the channel. Though, I'm going to have to disagree about the ending being BS. When I was little, I thought it was the eeriest/creepiest/freakiest/scariest s*** I've ever saw psychologically. Now that I see it again 10 years later, all those factors have disappeared, being only left with "Ok I'm not scared of that anymore, but man does it still look a little eerie". It did it's job. It made me scare and made it feel REAL, as if it could happen to anyone, including me. I too seriously don't understand the hate this movie gets. Now the sequel, is a total different story.

I think we can all agree to pretend the sequel never happened.
I heard the video game adaptations are surprisingly good, though.

I think it is one of those movies that is a lot like the Matrix. When it came out it was something new and different but when you go back and watch it years later it kind of loses something.

The marketing and hype for the movie before the release was truly something to admire and appreciate.
Because after I walked out of the movie theater, I felt f***ing ripped off.

Interesting concept, poorly executed.

I admire what they tried to do and how the film was made.
That said, maybe it's because I saw it after all the hype and hooplah. But I just didn't find anything remotely creepy about it

i liked it, but everyone else i went to the cinema to see it with said it was balls. The bit at the end with the dude in the corner genuinely freaked me out a bit.

But I just didn't find anything remotely creepy about it "WHERE'S THE MAP??!! WE'RE F***ING LOST!!! I HATE YOU!!!" *an hour later* "WHERE'S THE MAP??!! WE'RE F***ING LOST!!! I HATE YOU!!!" What improv skills. And on a related subject, I think it's time WWE On Demand finally shows those Blond Bytch Project vignettes with Stevie Richards and The Blue Meanie.

I remember going to see the first movie opening night and just being bored and not caring what happened to anyone. Atleast the second movie had Kim Director, she looked great.

I thought it was utter s***.
In all the 13 years I worked at the cinema, that film had the highest walkout rate of them all.

I dug it.
I seen it after all the hype, and thought it worked. They made it seem real, and it had some very effective scenes.
My only gripe with the film were the characters themselves. There were times when they were downright annoying.
