www.365black.com/365black/index.jspWow. I can't actually get the page to load, but there's tons of results when you search in google. For people having the same problem that I am getting the page to load, here's what the deal is. Basically, this new chain of stores is operating under the idea that black history month should be celebrated 365 days a year. They're supposedly only hiring black employees, and offering different scholarships for African Americans. Please don't turn this into a racist thread. I'm really just trying to figure out if this thing is real or not, and if it is indeed happening...how the f is it legal? Again, I'm not trying to turn this into a racist discussion (however, a discussion about race is unavoidable....but please try to be respectful). Personally, I feel like it has to be an internet hoax, but after all the results I'm finding all over the web I'm not too sure. With all of the anti-discrimination laws that are in place, I really don't see how this could be legal either. Thoughts?

It cannot be true. The amount of EEO laws they would be violating would be insane.

Legally this is EXTREMELY suspect. It would almost definitely violate equal protection.

I'd have to think it's a hoax. McDonald's likely has a legal team so adept that they know this would not fly.

Oddly, my virus protection keeps saying that page link is dangerous.

I'm reading the site, and it doesn't say anything about black people owning stores. Seems more like some kind of scholarship and work thing.

Yeah I keep reading through it as well and I don't see a single thing about only hiring black employees.

Looking at the website, I'm not seeing anything that would seem to indicate that they're opening franchises where only members of a certain race will be hired, which is what raised the flags for me. It sounds like an ad campaign/promotion to try to appeal to the black community, which doesn't raise the flags for me.

Yeah I also went back and read the site and didn't see anything that's suspect. I'm sure McDonalds couldn't be so stupid to actually try that.

From the What IS page from the site:
WHAT IS 365BLACK? At McDonald's®, we believe that African-American culture and achievement should be celebrated 365 days a year — not just during Black History Month. That's the idea behind 365Black.com. It's a place where you can learn more about education, employment, career advancement and entrepreneurship opportunities, and meet real people whose lives have been touched by McDonald's. Plus, you can also have a chance to win exciting once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. So make sure you visit often — you just might get inspired. -----------
Don't see anything wrong with that

I found out about it from a friend of mine who brought it up when we were talking earlier. He was adamant about boycotting McDonald's and was adamant about the fact that they would only be hiring black employees. Since I couldn't get the site to work, I wasn't able to see for myself.
It sounds like they're not doing anything wrong. I was very perplexed as to how they could get away with something that so blatantly violated all of the current labor laws. Thanks for having a better internet connection than me guys!

It might have been a good idea to wait until you could see the website before making the thread. Honestly not trying to be rude, just that entire story was wrong.

It sounds like an ad campaign/promotion to try to appeal to the black community, which doesn't raise the flags for me. They've been attempting this ever since the bullshit "I'm lovin it" campaign began some six years ago. I despise McDonald's for that.
