I seriously try not to, but in a moment of excitement here and there it'll slip.

I seriously try not to, but in a moment of excitement here and there it'll slip. I can appreciate the trying not to, as it does sometimes come off as weird, but there are those moments where you just can't help it. Perfect example, 1995 ALCS, watching with my dad (both of us life-long Indians fans, to the point my parents went to a game in Municiple Stadium in 1977 and as they were leaving at the end my mom went into labor with me) and they clinch their first trip to the Series in 41 years. We both scream "we did it!" in unison.

Yes all the time. Anyone who hates it has a rod up their ass.
Just like the people who correct people about nuclear.

Yep all the time and I don't understand why you wouldn't or why anyone would get upset that you said 'we'. Unless the person you said it to didn't know what team you supported.
Plus its a whole lot easier and it gets silly saying your teams name over and over when you don't have to and people know you support them.

I do. But only when talking amongst fans of the same team.

How does that make you feel? Please don't do that again! Anyway, yes, when I'm referring to a sports team I say "we" all the time. For highschool it's ok as it's MY hometown...where I grew up and went to school...I support the town, school, and sports teams, and thus I am part of everything going on. For college, I'm part of the state, and therefore part of the community...and therefore I feel the right to say "we" when referring to my favorite college team (Ohio State Buckeyes) For pro...erm...well...the Browns are tremendous losers...but they are from Cleveland...which is part of Ohio...of which I am a member of the community...I guess I'll say "we" there too.

I really make an effort not to. Every now and then I might, but usually it's 'They'.

I do
and it's unexplainable why I do, it's just easier to say. "We" is much easier to say than "that team that I support".

Absolutely. The fans are an extension of the team. If you buy tickets. If you buy gear. If your mood is effected by their performance. Then you are a part (albiet small) of the team. The team doesn't exist without its fans. Period. I agree with you on this. I usually don't say "we", but occasionally I will and I have no problem with others who do. I invest a crazy amount of time in following my favorite teams, whether it be reading about them on-line, talking about them with friends, or watching them on TV. With that kind of emotional (and sometimes financial) investment, it's perfectly normal to feel as though you're a part of the team, however small that part may be.

Simple.
When we win, I say "We"...
when they lose, I call them, "Those no good overpaid jobber bastards"

You don't here too many people say "We're a bunch of worthless, overpaid losers who suck big dick..." Well, unless you're a Cubs fan...

All the time with Michigan, good or bad. However, I try not to with the pros.

Not only do I say we, I also yell at the tv when we're not performing adequately. I think it's snorking hilarious how much it bothers some people. I'm not delusional, I don't think I'm actually on the team, but our goals are compatible.
It might read as stupid, but does they or the team sound that much better?

My roommate does that with the Bears. He puts a jersey on every game and yells at the TV as if he's the Offensive Coordinator or something. It's pretty funny.

Let's see:
"We won last night!" "The Jaguars won last night!"
One makes me think that you play on an actual team, the other is a statement about a team you like.
Maybe I'm just wired differently - its not that it bothers me or makes me angry - but I know a lot of people who do acutually play sports (not professionally obviously) so when I hear "Yeah, we won!" I think someone is talking about a team they actually play on.
When someone says "We won last night!" to me, I instinctively ask (not sarcastically) - "what sport do you play?" or something like that. Then they give me a look like I'm stupid.
That's what bothers me.

Let's say the halfback pushes through a hole and breaks into the secondary. Most people will say something to the effect of "GO! GO! GO!" as though the player would not continue to run forward without their input. People like that with intimate knowledge of the team are hilarious to watch. It's not enough to yell, each player must be reprimanded accordingly.
