TV-PG:
Parental Guidance Suggested This program contains material that parents may find unsuitable for younger children. Many parents may want to watch it with their younger children. The theme itself may call for parental guidance and/or the program may contain one or more of the following: some suggestive dialogue (D), infrequent coarse language (L), some sexual situations (S), or moderate violence (V).
I would also like to point out that 1997/most of 1998 WWF was rated TV-PG.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. If I hadn't heard about WWE going PG on the Internet, I don't think I'd have noticed the difference. Maybe, just maybe, I might have thought "I haven't seen any blood in a while" but that's it. People talk (and care) about this WAY too much. I think a lot of it is bitching for the sake of bitching (This IS the internet, after all) I'm not telling people what to think or not think, but this is a tired, tired subject.

You really can't tell a difference? Did you watch WWE from 1997-2002? It's radically different in it's suggestive nature. No blood, very little if any swearing, bluring of middle fingers, Divas much toned down... I could go on for days about the differences.

They blurred the middle fingers in 1997 and the divas haven't been toned down that much (I prefer the toning down, anyway). As for the blood and swearing, they're not needed.

They didn't blur the fingers in 1997, they were always in plain sight. Also you really don't think the divas haven't been toned down as much? Really? I seem to remember Bra and Panties and evening gown matches all the time and they usually had thongs. Even Dude Love's girls had thongs on. They had a stable called PMS. Pregnancy angles. Miscarriage angles. Val Venis sleeping with managers wives. Yet you're going to argue that's not toned down all that much in comparison to having the divas dress in boxing uniforms for a tag team match.

PG doesnt mean much, really. You can get away with a LOT of stuff and still be PG.

The top of this page explains PG perfectly.
And at the end of the day, the WWE only need to do as much as they have to do to be accepted as PG by whoever they need to impress. 'Suck It' is something that pretty much 100% of the crowd reacts to, and crowd participation is key, therefore they aren't going to drop it.
But also, crotch chopping doesn't have to mean 'Look at my penis!!!' it can just mean they are forming an X, because it's part of their tag team name.

You know, I like that they give us time to get ready first before fully going through with it. It's a nice gesture, I think. Exactly. When Triple H says "Are you ready?", he's merely giving the parents in the audience enough time to cover the ears of their children.

DX should come out eating lobsters, then "suck it" would have a whole new PG-friendly meaning.

Nor did I, but those were very small (Diva-centric) aspects of the attitude era. I'm not too caught up in the PG thing, I think if we had some decent writing, maybe a swerve once and awhile and maybe let the heels win once and awhile the product would be fine. It's not the actual PG thing that irks people, it's more or less the complete transition into becoming "kid-friendly" which they have definitely done with the style of show they produce, the wrestlers they push, etc.
