Yup. That's the card.
Can't say much about this PPV, other than my dog, who has never as much as glanced at the TV, once sat at the edge of my bed and intently watched the entire D'Lo vs. Val match, then went to sleep right after it was over.

love that show, still have in on VHS, the ladder match is great, the foley/mcmahon backstage part before the tag match is classic and during the title match austin actually gets knocked out cold

Is this the one where Mero basically gives himself a powerbomb?

Such a good PPV. Perhaps the best Summerslam ever.

Awesome PPV.
Great opener between D'Lo and Val, decent enough comedy match between Oddities/Kai En Tai, X-Pac/JJ is a very good match, the ladder match is a great feud ender to Rock and Triple H's IC title feud and the main event is very good as well.

Loved the PPV, but my VHS (which was brand f'n new) didn't survive one playing. It was BOD (botched on delivery)

True story: My brother reenacted the D'Lo/Val match on Smackdown HCTP (I think that was the one anyway) at an IWW fan event ages ago. My brother played as Val, the guy playing as D'Lo (CAW D'Lo) was none other than D'Lo himself! My brother slaughtered him, finishing the match with D'lo's own frog splash.
D'Lo said that the Summerslam match against Val was one of his favorite ever.

That ladder match is still my favourite (although Jericho/Benoit comes close). It may not have been the flashiest, but it told the best story and was an all around great match. I love Rock's busted nose, whether that was intentional or not.

At what point is Stone Cold knocked out? I remember him in his autobiography saying it was the only match he's been knocked out in, but I don't remember at which point.

At what point is Stone Cold knocked out? I remember him in his autobiography saying it was the only match he's been knocked out in, but I don't remember at which point. The backdrop spot. Taker bends over to deliver a backdrop and Austin kicks him. Taker stood up and Austin was closer than he thought, took Taker's head right on the chin. Per his 1999 "Hell Yeah" VHS.

I'll go ahead and say the Oddities/Kai En Tai match is my favorite one on the entire show. I'm wrong, I know.

I'll go ahead and say the Oddities/Kai En Tai match is my favorite one on the entire show. I'm wrong, I know. That match is probably my favorite squash/comedy match of all time. It precisely does what is supposed to do. The crowd is hot for it, the faces destroy the heels while entertaining the crowd. That whole PPV encapsules what the Attitude Era was at the time. Great undercard, Red Hot feuds, pushing of new stars...Probably the Greatest WWE Non Wrestlemania PPV of all time.

I didn't care for the ladder match; Rock is just so obviously slow in climbing the rungs, it was as if he had two broken feet.
The opener was good and I think it solidified D'Lo as a serious player instead of comic relief. Same with Val.
The Lion's Den match was basically: you either liked it or you didn't. I liked it. Wade Keller did a huge rip job of that match because of "Owen rebounding off of the cage like they're bouncy ropes". I've wrestled my brother and our friends in the backyard plenty of times, and you CAN spring back from a chain link fence if the poles and attachments are far enough apart.
This was a really good show overall, had a little something for everybody. It was having shows like this that catapulted the WWF past WCW as far as PPV buyrates. WCW would have great openers and crappy main-events. The WWF tried to start with something good and get better from there.
I just didn't like the "tag" title match. Big waste of time. "DAMN THAT DEMON!!!"

The ladder match wasn't a Triple threat with Chyna? Rock lied to me.....

My memory of this show?
I was at a friends' house down the shore, and they had rented Titanic. I had no interest in watching it, so I kept running into one of the bedrooms and putting one of the TV's there on the PPV channel at the time, and got a mostly scrambled picture...BUT THE SOUND CAME THROUGH!

Austin/Taker was one of the greatest main event builds in history. It spanned 2-3 months, involved 6 different people (Austin, Taker, McMahon, Bearer, Kane, Mankind), and it showed. The anticipation for the match was amazing.
