Orton beats the crap beat out of him. Then the ref asks if he wants to quit. Cena pauses and his facial expression looks like he is a contestant on a game show trying to remember the answer to a complex history question. Then each time we got the very monotone "no."

He may have said "no" in a monotone voice, but I thought he sold everything else well.

Yeah, he did sell everything else well, but at least put some emotion into that "no."

Yeah, he did sell everything else well, but at least put some emotion into that "no." I'll agree with that. He did a good job of emoting "no" at Judgment Day 2005. So I'm surprised he did such a dull performance of the word tonight.

He sold well, just not after he goes SSJ and destroys Orton with relative ease and makes him quit in 5 seconds. It was like he never got "tortured" for 10 minutes. It was business as usual.

I did a double take at the topic title considering the way he sold his injuries, but since you're talking about the monotone "no" in particular I can see what you're getting at.
Let's keep it mind he was getting battered with canes and chairs and handcuffs and punches and all sorts tonight, so if he wanted to produce an emotional 'no' he could do it without even trying I'm sure. I think he actually tried to make sure his no's were really concise and to-the-point to fit in with the whole "will not quit" deal. In the sense that he wants to reconfirm there isn't even a CHANCE of him quitting even though he is hurting. Not that they weren't a bit off-putting though, because they were; I just won't give him any crap because he done such a good job screaming in pain for most of the match.
For what's it's worth despite all of the 'Supercena' crap that is sure to come, I also think he did a good job selling in the aftermath of the match as well. He wasn't jumping around like a spring or waving his hands around like a plane conductor - he just rose up, raised the belt and confirmed not quitting. Needless to say I'm sure the pain was very real and he may have done so if he could, but it's still good that it's being shown instead of thrown out the window.

I think Orton still left looking good, especially with how much he messed up Cena's chest and stomach skin.
The STF with the cuffs looked good, like it'd probably of hurt like hell.

I think the "no's" were fine. It was more of a "You'll never make me say 'I quit" no's. You got the impress that despite what Orton had just done, it wasn't enough and would never be enough.

He didn't sell the best a wrestler could, but for Cena he did a good job.
Now, I asked a question in the thread and I believe it wasn't answered, so I'll ask it again. How was Orton suppose to get out of that STF? He couln't just tap, he couldn't get help form Legacy or he's lose the title and that's a screwy finish, he couldn't of passed out, as that is also is a screwy finish and now way you do 2 on one show. So again, how was he not going to quit?

Did he do it with as much conviction as this guy?

I took it as Cena barely having the strength to say "no". He's just a shitty actor.

He should have won an oscar for the marine...okay maybe not....he should concentrate more on improving his acting abilities and a little less time doing the five knuckle shuffle or he will go blind.

That's exactly the intent and action he was playing when delivering those No's. Didn't work for me. Maybe at the beginning..but as it went on, he should have taken a more pain-stricken approach, or hell even gone with anger in a defiant gesture.

he could do a better job in his overall performance such as getting some original charisma and not depend on the white meat baby face crap.

I think the question you want to ask is "Could WWE have done a better job booking?"

I thought he did a good job. I'm not a fan of the way he got the quick win at the end, but the way he took the beatings and sold it prior was about as good as you can expect from a WWE match I think.
