With Angle and Austin it was clear that neither man was as over in those roles as they were in the "Austin face, Angle heel" roles. This did end up hurting Austin overall though. In fact his career never really was the same.
The Harts vs. DX was odd since neither team were faces at all. I never understood it at the time, it was almost like two heel factions were simply feuding. DX were more heelish overall since the Harts were at least the faces in Canada.

In a way, Vickie was an insanely good heel. Faces could do any s..t to her and get cheers. The whole Cena thing felt wrong, and incredibly dickish. It takes a special kind of a rotten slime-sucking pond scum would not just blackmail someone with an adulterous tape, but after getting everything they wanted to still show it to everyone. Cena got cheers for that, it was absurd. Batista and Taker got cheers for mauling someone who, obnoxious as she was, was a wheelchair-bound middle-aged woman. The audience loved to hate Vickie, it was just freaky.
Anyway, heels that were right... Bret could be very good at that at times, and Heenan's speech was smurfing fantastic.

Most of Hogan's feuds, especially Andre and Savage. Even as kids how could we not see what a dick Hogan was? Andre - no, Savage - debatable. With Andre The Giant, he didn't ask for OR wanted a title shot. It took Bobby Heenan brainwashing him to get Hogan to give him their match. An emotional Hogan said if he wanted a title shot, all he had to do was ask. With Savage, he was right to suspect that Hogan was after his woman, though he accidentally collided into Miss Elizabeth on an episode of the Main Event in a match of theres and Hogan was trying to get her help. Supposedly being a sport. On the other hand, he did abandon Savage, leaving him against The Twin Towers. Now, for the next couple of weeks Savage distorted alot of footage with Hogan lusting after Elizabeth. So its hard to tell who was the face(or lesser of two evils) in the feud.

No, it's true. There's that and all of Smackdown 2008, where the glorious babyfaces Undertaker and "Big" Dave Batista were attacking a defenseless crippled woman in a wheelchair, Vickie, and getting cheered for it. The same women who routinely abused her power to keep the title on her husband, and who was faking being crippled as seen by the various times she would walk or run when it suited her.
