Why did they change the music anyway? Ok, was some of that footage in the video sped up? Or is there no pace and intensity to Cena's game anymore? Some of what Cena did in that video was lightning fast compared to how he moves in 2009. Moving slow and deliberately is pretty much a staple of top faces for whatever reason. Look at Hogan, Shawn, and others. There are times when they move faster, especially in older matches, but when you have a top spot, I guess you play it safe to not get injured as often, or you just have to do more appearances and the like, and it's not smart to wear yourself out when fans cheer just as much if you go at 80%.

It sounded piped, but it wasn't "OH MY GOD IT'S JOHN CENA!" levels of pipe. More like "Hey, it's a good guy, I should cheer for him, but...who is he?"
Also, I don't get why they took out the commentary during that bit...or why they changed his generic theme, for that matter.

Someone on this forum has said this and I agree: John Cena was the golden goose with the rotten golden eggs from the moment he step foot in the WWF/E. When he was a rapper and he got cheered, they turned him face and pushed him to the moon. This was a conspiracy from the get go.
Damn, Gina! Cena!

Is it just me, or didn't Cena look taller in that video?

I think Vince was pushing Cena as far back as the Discovery channel documentary.

I'm also surprised they didn't add in some subliminal messages bashing TNA... or did they?

Wow Cena was skinny in comparison to his frame now.

OP made it sound like they piped in "Cena! Cena!" cheers or something.

I'm also surprised they didn't add in some subliminal messages bashing TNA... or did they? "Well, Taz, John Cena making an IMPACT here on his debut." "Whatcha talkin' 'bout Cole!? Every superstar here in the WWE makes an IMPACT! In fact, I'd say every superstar here is better than an IMPACT! I'd go as far as to say even the lowest, bottom feeding, scum sucking scallop of a jobber here is better than IMPACT!" "Angle may suffered quite the IMPACT himself. Although he pulled out the victory, it's a STALKING black GIRLFRIENDS day for Kurt Angle." "It's may be total non-stop Angle but he failed to make an IMPACT. Or... wait... uh..." "TNA sucks. Good night everybody!"

Cena should have stayed as the Prototype.

No he shouldn't have.
The prototype was basically a terminator gimmick and it was stupid.

I'd mark the f*** out if his gimmick was changed to that of a terminator who has been sent from the future to destroy Aurora Rose - that instantly gives you 18 months of amazing tv involving HHH protecting his beloved Mcmahon family from a Heel Cena- the IWC would love it. Just picture it. Raw opens one night with lightning bolts and a naked Cena spawns in the car park, the camera cuts to a crying like a little fat bitch Matt Hardy who's just pissed his pants. Cena tells him to "RELAX DICKWAD" AND "GIVE ME YOUR CLOTHES". The camera then cuts back to a naked and possibly dead Matt Hardy. As a now fully clothed (albeit like a whiny piss pants fat emo bitch) Cena makes his way towards the backstage area. It would mark the start of "The Cenanator Era". And i have far too much time on my hands.

Maybe it's because I haven't seen the movies in a while, but aren't Terminators supposed to be, idunno indestructible? Like how John Cena recovers so quickly in his matches? And barely loses?

Ok just to clear things up, my point wasn't how LOUD the cheers were, my problem was the fact that they added some (pretty noticeable) cheers to begin with, especially the moment where he slides into the ring.
Someone posted (what looks like) the original video when it aired, and you can clearly hear the difference. Although, I'm sure when it originally aired, Cena walked out to Marilyn Manson's "Beautiful People", which was Smackdown's theme at the time, so they had to dub that over with some generic theme.
Fact is, there was no point to add in the noticeable (but not standing ovation-like) cheers for Cena, just because he's currently the top guy.

Fact is, there was no point to add in the noticeable (but not standing ovation-like) cheers for Cena, just because he's currently the top guy. But yet, without the dubbed cheers all anyone would have heard is the generic guitar riff that would have made it even more blatant it was changed. You act like Cena is some kind of exception to the rule here, which he isn't. Watch some old DVD's with shaky rights on music - the Wrestlemania Anthology has a ton of this. From what I understand the most effective way to remove dubbed music often removes most of the crowd noise as well - so they have to compensate by adding in some of their own. That's all that I see happened here, just another case of a prevalent trend.

Yeah, it wasn't too loud, just normal.
Though, that was a pretty good moment for Smackdown. I noticed watching that Cena looked a bit sloppy with his moves, but he certainly was on fire in that match, and really showed he had main event potential. A great way to debut someone.
