RING OF HONOR ANNOUNCING CHANGE FOR HDNET SERIES
by Mike Johnson @ 2009-02-15 09:03:39
According to several sources, Ring of Honor announcer Lenny Leonard will be replaced for the HDNet series by ACC Football and Basketball announcer Mike Hogewood. Hogewood has no background in professional wrestling, but has done NASCAR and Monster Truck announcing as well. I saw a photo of Hogewood and he looks something like a younger Bill Watts.
I am told this was a HDNet decision, so it's possibly Leonard will stay on to do ROH DVD releases. I'm not too thrilled with the idea but when you work with a partner that is investing money into a project, this is the reality you live with.
I haven't heard anything regarding Dave Prazak, so my gut feeling is he will continue doing commentary for the series, which will tape its first episodes on 2/28 and 3/1 at The ECW Arena in Philadelphia, PA.

LENNY LEONARD COMMENTS ON ROH ANNOUNCING CHANGE
by Mike Johnson @ 6:54 PM on 2/15/2009
ROH announcer Lenny Leonard posted the following comments on the official Ring of Honor message board in regard to PWInsider.com's report this morning that he would not be doing the HDNet ROH series as the network has tapped Mike Hogewood, a newcomer to wrestling, to work the series:
My only comment will be that I saw nothing to my knowledge in Mike's report that was inaccurate...
I will add that I was never told I was going to be part of the tv show by anyone..not by ROH nor by HDNet...in fact, I have never once met let alone spoken to anyone with the network....
No one has told me that I will not be continuing on as play by play voice for DVD and PPV releases..in fact Dave Prazak is due to arrive in Tampa within the hour to start on the next set of voiceovers this evening, and unless someone tells me differently between now and 6pm, I will be there as well...
I am still under contract to ROH and will continue to perform my duties to the best of my ability under the terms of that contract....
Probably more than I should have said, but I appreciate the sentiments of the board so I felt a quick reply will stop any unnecessary speculation.
