This is aimed at both the British here, and the furriners - what are your experiences of the current/recent product in the UK? Any workers you really like, do you attend shows?
I'll post more later, as I'm about to leave work, but I'll say that I was an RQW regular through all the boringness and bad crowds, because I wanted it to do well, and they were running the York Hall (half empty), which was awesome.
I was a late period FWA regular, caught the tail end of the boom and then the bust. Big time IPW fan, hardly missed a main show in 3 years or so, through some downs and masses of ups.
Also attend smaller shows, like the awesome SAS, and some LDN, as it can run locally, and when I remember I go to the incredible pantomine-esque Thunderslam wrestling.

I would love to go to more shows than I do but unfortunately there isn't really much in an area I can get to as I don't drive and neither do my parents. I used to attend shows here in the North East by a company called WZW but they seem to have gone out of business which is a shame as they ran decent shows and I got the chance to see Mike Quackenbush wrestle live when he worked for them. I'm hoping to start going to more shows when I pass my driving test. The only real promotion that runs in my area regularly is 3CW that mainly run in the Middlesbrough area.

I was a regular at 1PW and FWA shows in the south during their respective peaks, and worked some real dog rough smaller shows in the Hants area myself. I used to be a regular at Celtic Wrestling before they went under and am now commentating for South Wales Coastal Championship Wrestling, who use totally local talent and always have, to keep costs low.
It's a bit of a struggle to find regular decent quality stuff I find.

The only show I've ever been to was OPWO. Which Kriss Sprules ran from a VILLAGE with 1000 people.
It drew 9 3 of them were from Blackpool 2 of them were me and my mate who lived 300 yards away from the community centre, where my sister held a birthday last week. 4 of them were drunk chavs, there was a bar

I'm thinking about starting training there in May. Check it out www.sensationaliwf.piczo.com/?cr=7They're based in Newcastle, and do shows all over the North East

I have to put this plug in here, that when we finally get the equipment set up properly and get a card worth advertising for our first DVD (where I'll be doing play-by-play), I've spoken to the promoter about giving free tickets and merch for Wrestlecrappers who might like to come along.

Personally, I've cut down on my shows a lot - at one point, that was my weekend, but marriage and financial stuff has slowed that down - still, was at IPW the other weekend, where they packed out their Swanley venue (by halving the venue size, but so what?) and delivered a fun show - Mark Haskins, my favourite current UK heel, was all over the show, and was awesome, and Alex Shane returned (again). Also, got to see Brute Magnus suck. Going to a SAS show the weekend before Easter - should be good, they have a great roster and a tiny venue with awesome atmosphere. Dave Morales vs. Sha Samuels should be off the chizart.

All I know about wrestling in the UK is that World of Sport was awesome way back when, Johnny Saint is the king.
And I don't like Robbie Brookside even though it seems like everyone else loves him.

Robbie is a weird one, really - he tends to end up in both best and worst workers in the UK - I find his work to be polished, due to experience and years of leading sucky workers through matches, and he's very well respected by WWE, but his character stuff is either really basic (as a face) or too based on stalling and crap insults (as a heel). Saint is awesome - have seen him live about 4 times now, and he's absolutely tip-top at that style.

The only promotions I'm aware of are 1PW and LDN. And any other exposure to Engalnd wrestling would be through FSM.

i trained at the celtic wrestling school for a bit, and there were some very impressive wrestlers working there at the time. caimen is a lock to breakthrough in america sometime, you've gotta check some of his work out. unfortunately they went under, but they were a fun little group while they lasted.
in terms of actually attending shows, i don't get to many given i can't drive and live in the middle of nowhere. i went to a few 1PWs, but that's about it.
and on the subject of johnny saint, i've never seen him live, which given he's one of my top five wrestlers of all time, is something i really need to do before he packs it in for good.

I attended a SAS Wrestling show last weekend - they're normally awesome, but this one had an 18 attendance and the appropriate level of effort. Real shame.

Thats a shame, I was hearing great things from SAS. Yeah... some of the shows in the past have been great, with tiny crowds but enough to pack out the tiny venue... however, I think something has gone from the London shows, as they are drawing so much more in Birmingham. Also, I blame Len.

I see a Guvnor show every year, through making videos I know the guy! That he sucks is a matter of opinion. Sure, he books to the little kids, but he always has some talented guys (Johnny Midnight the most memorable for talent, for fame it's Drew "Highlander" McDonald), and the showmanship of The Guv (Mickey Francis) is entertaining. I'm pissed that I can't get to Manchester Mania II (His big show of they year), since it's the day after my birthday! Ah well, nothing to do.
