Everyone spams the mega hits like Superman and any head kick. Block and counter em. I'm 8-0 so far, 7 wins by tapout cause they all drain their stamina FAST going for the knockout.

This career mode is getting on my nerves. You just can't get ahead untill you have a complete gatekeeper record. I like my MMA games like my NBA, NFL, and MLB games. The career mode has to somewhat be realistic. Nobody is going to be happy with finally having enough skills to be able to compete with the top guys with a 23-14 record. Call me lazy, but i know before this game came out everybody was thinking about creating their character 99 across the board so you can run through the weight classes. Then if we want the challenge, we can spend a whole career mode building 10 different skills point by point and by the 9th year your rating is still 20 points less than Chuck Liddell's. I love the game and all, and it offers much more than the career mode....but damn, i wish you could build your fighter a little quicker. Like, your fighter should be a complete baller at atleast a couple skills by the 4th or 5th fight. No below average at your strengths and garbage at other things.

Has anybody done the Roster Runthrough yet? I'm almost done with the Welterweight section. Who have been your punching bags in each one? Middleweight - Evan Tanner (Nobody I really dislike there) Of course, beat up the dead guy. He tried to burn me alive (in KPW). You get used to stuff like this once with him ;D On a SRS note, I have yet to buy or rent the game. Blockbuster completely ran out of copies, and I don't have the cash yet to buy the game. But the second I do, Matt Serra is gonna make putty of Matt Hughes.

I've had a couple of interesting run ins with CAFs online - first one came in unbeaten, but Lyoto Machida rocked him with a knee flush in the face to give the guy his first ever loss. The second one came in with a 10 fight win streak... and absolutely destroyed Brock Lesnar with kicks.

Oh man. Anderson Silva on a 8 win streak vs my Michael Bisping.
Pretty good fight. Guy has the kicks down. He just knew where I was gonna block and he went the other way. 2nd round he gets me in full mount and goes in for the kill. Rocks me. Hits 3 shots, 4th shot would kill me. BLOCK IT. Transition to side gu-OH MY GOD KIMURA. I KIMURA'D HIM AND WON AHAHAHAHAHA.

My best one was yesterday - I was Lyoto Machida, my opponent was Wanderlei Silva. Silva rocks me with several big punches, drops me, rains down the punches, but I manage to just cover up before he lands the blow that leads to Herb Dean stopping the fight. Silva backs off, I stand up, throw a right fist... which knocks Silva the snork out.

I'm just starting to notice how stupid some of the ringside chatter is. 15 seconds in to a fight, both fighters are trying to get a feel for the standup game and you here some dude that sounds like he's half out of his mind shouting "SPRAWL!!!!!!!SSSPPPRAAWWLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Imagine how stupid that stuff probably gets for the real fighters. In any given situation, you have like 14 people all shouting out different instructions. I could get a job being one of those guys. How hard would it be to shout "KNEES" every couple of minutes regardless of the situation? I think backseat MMAing is a problem.

It's a shame this game is buggy as all hell. I've run into 4 guys with the submission glitch on and its soooooooooooooo laggy.

I am now a member of the 8 second club. My CAF just he'd kicked the hell ot of Tito "The Hunnington Beach Asshole" Ortiz. Landed a quick leg kick then, WHAM, Tito kissing canvas.

May be a completly stupid question but i've read that you can max out your created fighters.
When I finished career mode my guy has an overall of 88. How the blazes can you max out?? Unless I just suck at sparring, I usually got between 40 and 70 points.

Sweet & Sour, I don't think you can unless you spend little time doctoring up your strength, speed, and cardio ratings. I've completed career mode once with a lightweight whose strength was standing punches. (115 rating, 100% + lvl. 3 boxing bonuses) I spent a lot of time with his stat stats though. His power was maxed at eighty, and his speed and cardio wre at ninety-five. As a result, his ground game is passable at best and he has little to no clinch skills. I tried to build him steadily, but just ran out of time. Perhaps someone better at the game could strike the balance, but it seems to me that It'd require absolute success everytime there were points on the line if it were even possible.

I think the most points you can get out of sparring is 120. In terms of stats, you really have to choose wich type of fighter you want to be. My LH was a kickboxer with a passable ground game. So his ground stats were in th low 70 while his striking was in the low 90s with level 3 kickboxing and level 2 wrestling. Now, my MW is a BJJ fighter so I'm going to max out his ground, clinch, and submission stats.

8-0 in my 205 career so far, 8 knockout wins, 4 knockouts of the night. Yet my bro is 2-0 in his 185 career, 2 KOs, 1 KO of the night, which was also fight of the night. He fought the exact same way as I do. How do you get fight of the night?

I've actually been forced to stop playing ranked matches in this game. The most frustrating thing in the world to win 8 matches in a row and have all 8 quit on you so you get no credit. Till they fix that bug i just cant play online.

He fought the exact same way as I do. How do you get fight of the night? Number 1 way? Get lucky. There's no honest rhyme or reason to getting FoTN or KOoTN. Also, its harder than hell to even lock in a submission on the CPU, but easy as hell to find yourself being triangle choked. I'm currently 26-10 in career mode after a day or so of playing (I have nothing at the moment to do) and just beat the first Ultimate Fighter winner to do it. Got an 7 fight win streak going too. My plan was win 10 straight, and retire as champ but my CAF stats suck, so if I want to be any good online with Eddie "The Fury" Miller. Also, if you're a kickboxer, the head kick is your best snorking friend. Every fight I've won has been by KO, mostly based on a well-timed headkick. G+P is hard to learn, harder to remember, and a crapshoot at mastering. There's been too many times I've knocked someone down or taken them down only to get countered into being on the bottom and/or kimura'd/triangle choked/kneebar'd into being someone's bitch.

How to make Tito Ortiz your bitch in 27 seconds:
(this is entire fight PbP) Came out with a spinning backfist, was blocked. Ortiz goes for a takedown and gets it. I fight for a kimura, but I don't get it. We get to our feet, WHAM! Head kick rocks him. Left jab, left jab, he's out cold.
This game would have me interested in the UFC, if things like this happened more often. (The UFC fights I've watched we're slow, plodding affairs.)

Idea for the next UFC game....Start your career mode on The Ultimate Fighter so that you have some decent f***ing stats when you get to the big time.
