worst game to affiliate itself with the contra Name. at least in the 8 bit era at least. And yes, i know it wasn't made to actually be a Contra game in the beginning. but it still blows.

I have to disagree. "C : The Contra Adventure" was 10,000 times worse. EDIT : didn't see the edit. Also, it's really not that awful of a game. Just having the Contra name on it bothers some people.

Depended on who you used. I was way into hit and run with Warthog, but Grimm you had to pick your shots. The TM series is one of the few made way more fun by using god mode too. At least with Grimm, when you DID hit someone, it took at least 35% of their lifebar. I was partial to Darkside myself. Ramming the crap out of people is utterly satisfying. My hangups about that game though were 1 it was DEPRESSING and 2 that helicopter final boss pissed me off something huge. On topic... Pre-emptive strike?

I'm not saying it's a masterpiece, but it's colorful, eye catching and gives gamers the idea of Sonic running fast, having fun, an image that is pretty sentimental to a lot of gamers. Also there are no secondary characters or massive titles on the cover like previous Sonic games (Heroes, Adventure 2). It's just Sonic and he looks like he's going fast. Shame the game was so incredibly flawed and borderline unplayable.

That's cool. I mean, I can't see how anyone could really get INTO the game itself, but I can see how you might have fun with the free roam. And you know, it had POTENTIAL. It could have been good, and it SHOULD have been good, since they had so much time to work on it, but it WASN'T. And a LOT of my hate for it comes from the point of view of a huge JAWS fan. They just took a license and did jack all with it. The story was stupid, the controls were broken to the point of being maddening to use, and about the only thing that WAS fun was free roam, and even that got old after about 15 minutes. Glad you enjoyed it though. *shrug* As a HUGE Jaws obsessive (I'll have to send you some pics of my large collection of memorabilia) I totally agree with what you are saying. The sheer fact alone that the sunken wreck of the Orca is not in the game makes me scratch my head in bemusement. There is, however, something extremely cathartic about swimming around and eating everything. That alone made it worth it. Hence why I said "liked" and not the "loved" it should have been. I hope, hope, hope they make a sequel...But I like that the shark wins in the end!

Oh yeah, and to be fair, who DIDN'T get a little bit of a kick out of seeing the red-suit clad Baywatch life guards get ROCKED by the shark? The ability to breach-kill was pretty badass, and was one of the more fun things about the game. Oh and as for the ORCA...I think that bit got lost in translation. The makers were asked to put in an Orca reference....and so they let us murder Shamu and called it good. ;D I can just imagine them asking, "What's a Quint?" at the development meetings.
