The Late Night Wars used to be Carson v Letterman. They turned into Leno v OBrien... and they are on the same network.

I always liked Leno (certainly more than Letterman, who just seems like a douche to me), but this is becoming a huge embarrassment.
Meh. On the rare occasions when I watch the late shows, Craig Ferguson is my favorite.

I may be wrong on this, but didn't Conan threaten to leave NBC if he didn't get the Tonight Show?

This will certainly make my mom happy. She loves Jay, hates Letterman and doesn't understand how I can possibly find Conan funny.
Jay's audience is a basically made up of middle-of-the-road-types who don't like their comedy too political (aside from light jabs at the President), too raunchy or too wacky. Unfortunately for Conan, that is a very large group of people.

They've tried watching Conan before he took over the tonight show and just thought he was stupid and wasn't funny. Unfortunately Conan is a younger (mid to late 20's and younger type of comedian) and the tonight show's audience I would say has always been a bit older.

I love Conan but man does he need to go back to late night or get his own show on FOX. Not a big fan of his Tonight show stuff at all. He just too clean.

Is Conan really doing that bad? I haven't been following the ratings for awhile.

Fox could allways use a late night show.... This. If Conan gets the boot, Fox will be there to offer him a tonne of money and give him as much late night time as he wants. Fox has wanted a solid late night show for YEARS He's not doing terrible, but he's not doing as good as Leno did. Most chalk it up to a domino effect from Leno's show, fewer people are watching it then the old dramas, leading to fewer sticking around for the news, and even less sticking around for Conan. Like someone else said, it really is Leno's fault. Also, Conan's target audience (18-35 males) are very likely to skip the show, and catch it on Hulu or something to that effect. The internet is also hurting Conan

I remember that NYT article where Conan tried to put the best spin on it, but he obviously ANGRY when Leno came back.
Can't blame the Cone Zone.

Yeah, this is stupid. NBC was still my favorite network for a good while, but man. I could somewhat tolerate cancelling My Name Is Earl... but this is stupid. Add in that I don't really care for Comcast (they bought up my old cable company and have done basically nothing whatsoever over the past decade and a half. THEY DON'T OFFER PAY PER VIEW). It's just sad that USA has more hit shows that people talk about than NBC does.
Conan going to FOX could be great. Conan would likely still be making plenty of money. He'd be more free to get a bit of his edge back and he'd still be able to make fun of the network all he wanted. NBC would also get a bit of the shaft from the Conan vs. Leno feud they've made.
Regardless, Conan is going to come out of this smelling like roses, I think. NBC is in panic mode and pretty much everyone can smell it. I don't really wanna get negative and rag on specific shows, but as a network they can't seem to do much right in the grand scheme of things.

Fox could allways use a late night show.... This. Conan on Fox would make huge sense. He'd have a demographic that "gets" him, he wouldn't ever have to worry about needing to tone anything down, and he'd still be on a very noticeable network.

If Leno isn't getting any ratings at 10:00 PM what the hell makes them think he'll get any ratings when he returns at 11:30? He'll look like a giant asshole if this move happens for not wanting to walk.

But if Connan goes to Fox what's going to happen to Magic Johnson?
Anyway I like Connan but only his non scripted skits since he tends to recycle jokes. Like the Twitter tracker (does he still do that shows how irregularly I watch. Also I'd rather watch Colbert instead before the guests.

When I watch Conan, I only watch for the first 20 minutes for the comedy bits, I turn it off once the guests come on. Unless theres animals or someone I love. Its what I always do when watching talkshows. I actully enjoy Jay's format a guest interview in the middle and comedy bits to start and end the show. I only dont care for that stupid unfunny car racing he does.

So this will be the second time that NBC tosses aside a late night host to appease Leno, and this time he doesn't even have that allegedly bitchy manager to absorb the blame.

Conan could go to Fox, hell, he could even go to Comedy Central.
NBC will regret the decision when Conan does big ratings elsewhere.
